Utopia Care Professional Barber Straight Edge Razor Safety with 100-Pack Derby Blades - 100 Percent Stainless Steel (Black)

This was my first Straight razor, and I have gotten several since. This is one of the sharper ones that I have purchased, I still use it at times, it looks great, and I use this strop for all of my razors. The one thing that I am not satisfied with on this particular razor, is something that I overlooked as a first time buyer. The Way the blade and handle are set up, you cannot get a finger between the head of the blade, and the handle. For me this lead to a very unsure grip, which makes me uncomfortable. Had this not been the case, this would be one of my favorite razors. depending on how you grip your razor , this may not be a problem for you. Just sharing my experience.

For 340 years, men have used the straight razor as a principal means of manual shaving. I’ve used one for 14 years employing replaceable blades but remember the feeling of a barber shave with a permanent blade straight razor that had been properly stropped; the kind of blade used since 1680 to separate a man from his facial hair. I’ve yearned for the vintage experience of stropping my own stainless steel blade and applying metal to beard. Today, I received this handmade straight razor, stropped it just a bit, and had a longed for experience of truly vintage shaving that left my face smooth as a river rock. I’m elated! So many reviews are written by folks with redwood sized chips on their shoulders. I ignored them and ordered this razor anyway. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. It was shave ready. My stropping exercise was more just to have the full experience. One review said there was no room for his finger between the handle and blade. I have large hands and, when the razor is held correctly, there is ample room for my finger. The weight and balance is excellent and it is simple to stabilize it for a close yet lacerationless shave. This razor gets five stars across the board with the exception of the ‘for beginners’ category. HELLOOO! STRAIGHT RAZOR!!! This is a serious piece of sharpened 440 stainless steel! The only good straight razor for beginners is made of rubber!! If you’re ready for a vintage shaving experience at a great price, you’ve arrived!

I'm giving it 4 stars because the quality is nice on both items, but the hair on my neck is so thick that this just wasn't sharp enough to really cut clean. I watched a couple YouTube videos and just couldn't get this blade honed to a sharp enough edge to shave safely. Cut my neck up pretty good, again could be my fault. I've used these before but with the removable razor blade and had no issues. Just trying new shaving options to avoid buying anti-male gellett.

The blade was very sharp the case is very nice leather and well-made. The leather strop was also very nice but a little short for my flavor. This is a very good buy. The only thing I didn't like about it what is the space between the knife pivot and the blade. It's not quite wide enough for a comfortable fit.

First time me using it and works great i need a little more Practice to use it better but Overall Great Experience

I received it in the mail on time, opened up my beautiful and extremely sharp razor. It performs beautifully and the strop is great for my use. It may be a little short for some people. The razor itself has a short tang. Nimble fingers are a must to use properly. Besides that its a great purchase.

Not sharp enough and it is hard to get it to work right.

The blade needed to be excessively sharpened to be used at all. The strop is also not the best as I found it to be to short too be used comfortably.
