Beautiful to Use
As a mechanical engineer - at least by profession being an ex-marine Chief Engineer - I have come from a lifestyle where hammers are an absolute essential. It's amazing just how much work on a ship involves hitting things with hammers in order to fix it.... And these range from sledge hammers to the small tool makers hammers. But, the 2lb ball peen hammer is the most used. It's the go to hitting implement used on all things immovable and plenty of tools such as ring spanners that should not be. However, in the middle of the ocean you will do what's necessary..Which brings me to this delightful hand tool. It's called a machinists hammer and is in fact a version of the ball peen type being a Euro-style cross peen ideal for general overhaul use. Not too heavy to be unwieldy but has enough weight to be useful. The balance in hand is perfect and I could use this all day - which I have done at times on ships when needs must. The handle is a fibreglass reinforced type that is easy to hold and is light, leaving the mass at the top for hitting with. The design of the hammer is to my traditional eyes fantastic. Well made and perfect to hold. There is one small thing that I do note. In my experience at the extreme end of mechanical engineering where the massive and very oily ships engines lie, after a while the man made handles on tools tend to get impregnated with oils and solvents and can be harder to hold than old fashioned wooden handles. So, in order to avoid this problem make sure that after use if you have got a fibreglass handled tool covered in heavy oil, clean it off properly before putting it away. What else? Well this is a German brand but made in China. That's why the price is bearable I guess. The quality is not an issue however as I read that Presch ensure that their tools are made to their specs and then inspected at their warehouse/design place in Germany before selling.Overall, a superb middle weight hammer for general fitting and turning work.

Feels quality
Perfect weight and size for my use. Nice feel and finish. Waiting to see how rubber grip on shaft holds up to oils and chemicals long-term.Have been told it's identical to Halfords Advanced (few £ cheaper) except for colour on shaft.I'm pleased, Prescht not a brand I'm familiar with, but impressed.

Quality made tools, so i bought more.
Firstly the quality of this hammer is top class, the handle has a rubberized finish which feels really comfy whilst holding, the head is really well finished and is TUV/GS Approved DIN 1041 the only downside is it looks so good i don't want to use it lol.I also bought the 300g and it too is as well made as it's 500g bigger brother, i am planning to use the 300g for my camping/bushcrafting for hammering in tent pegs etc.

Sent it back and going to buy the 300g
I'm sure this would suit some people for the work they do I need a hammer I can hang in my work trousers while up a ladder to hit rawl plugs/bolts in so I am going for the 300g one. Very well made I just don't need one so this heavy. Hope my review has helped you pick
