Very Cool!
I love, love, love my Samsung Gear Fit! It is the coolest thing ever! Now, I’m no workout guru or some extreme techie, but for this being my first techie watch that connects to my cell phone, this is the Coolest!!! It is extremely user friendly and easy to learn. It is sharp looking and a lot of fun. It fits nice on the wrist too!But first, let me say that I bought the Samsung Gear Fit for the purpose of tracking my sleep, which to be honest, only tracks movement, so it is limited, but it gives you the general idea of your sleep pattern, which when viewed on your phone shows your peak times of movement. Very Cool! The other cool thing is that it will let you know when you get an email, text, call or voicemail. You can see who the communication is from and can read the messages, plus you can respond with short prerecorded messages. The standard replies are on your phone or you can create your own. And, if you get a call on your cell phone, you can reject it without having to dig your phone out of your purse or pocket. Very Cool! These weren't the reasons why I got my Gear Fit, but since I work where cell phones are only permitted in the break room, I now know when I get an important message that I have to respond to. Also, the Bluetooth goes far. I charge my phone overnight in the kitchen on the first floor, but still get updates on my Gear Fit in my bedroom on the second floor. And, much too my surprise, after a few days I thought, the only thing missing on this thing was the weather. Well, after having more time to play with it, there are different clock options, one showing a current weather icon (sun, cloud, moon, etc.) with the temperature, which is updated when your phone is updated. WooHoo, that made my day!I haven’t used the workout options, yet. Nor, have I used the media controller, but it also seems very cool. The heart rate monitor has only been a beat off from the monitor that you use on your finger. And, the phone finder is a nice added bonus. Now, I read some of the reviews and I see folks complaining about the chrome peeling off. I've had my watch for exactly a month and have worn it constantly. The chrome has not peeled; however, I don't wear the watch in the shower and I push it up my wrist when I'm in water, such as when washing dishes. So, I think a little discretion has to be used to keep it looking good as new. I do have to say that it sits a little high and I have bumped it on a wall, but no scratches or broken glass. In fact, the only scratches are on the Samsung silver logo on the bottom of the Gear Fit band from having my wrist on my desk. Now, there are a couple minor things that would be a nice change:1) It’s a bit of a pain to confirm that your deleting a message from your Gear Fit each time you do; i.e., you hit the trash can to delete a message, then you have to hit the check-mark to confirm that it will be deleted. I think that if you accidentally delete a message, it’s no big deal since the message stays on your phone. If anything, it should give you the option in the settings to choose if you want to confirm that you’re deleting a message or maybe give it the five-second rule, like it’s done on my Samsung Mini, to cancel the deletion.2) I love the countdown timer, but I wish you could set more than one time at a time. For instance, I get a 5-minute break, 15-minute break and a 30-minute lunch. It would be really cool to be able to save more than one setting at a time. Say, that you could preset three and then choose the one you want when you need it, or give preset options such as 5, 15, 30, etc., but with the ability to change it by a minute with the +/- key to suit specific needs. For instance, I get a 15 minute break, but I would want the alarm to go off at 13 so I have time to get back to my station; the option would be something like, preset to 15, hit minus key twice to get to 13. Or, maybe have the ability to set timer options on your phone with the ability to choose the one you want to use like you can when choosing a reply. Now, I realize this isn't for fitness, but you have to admit, through the course of the day, I have to change the timer to 15, then to 30, then to 15 and last to 5. Hitting the +/- key 30 times is, well, a hassle. Plus, should I be doing sprints during my workout, I don't want to have to change the timer each time to switch back and forth.3) And last, the only other thing missing is an alarm on the clock! It would be nice to set an alarm (and, while you’re at it, maybe a snooze). Given how watches are programmed these days, I think this would be a really easy fix. After all, it is a watch. So, guys & gals at Samsung, maybe these tiny adjustments can be made in the next upgrade. Now, wouldn’t that be Really Coooool!!!

Great device! I almost never take it off.
I received the Gear Fit as a Father's Day gift and I have rarely taken it off since. The device is stylish to wear, practical, light weight, and functional.Pros:First, I like that this is a watch and not simply a fitness device. I would not wear it if it was not a watch. I like that it is not heavy or bulky and it fits nicely on my wrist. This makes it easy to wear at night in order to track my sleep. Also, once you set up an alarm on your phone, the watch will vibrate on your wrist to wake you up. This is a very effective way to be woken up, and it will not disturb your spouse with any audible noise. The Gear Fit charges very quickly. I was at 15% battery this morning and the watch gave me a low battery warning. I plugged it in and was fully charged in an hour's time. Furthermore, the my watch will last for 3-4 days on a full charge from being on night and day with average usage. It functions very well as an overall fitness tracker especially in conjunction with Samsung's S Health app. Together, these can monitor water consumption, sleep habits, heart rate, blood pressure, steps, exercise, sports activities, weight, and many other health factors. Some of these have to be input manually and some sync automatically with S Health through the Gear Fit.As some reviews have stated, the Gear Fit is not a fully functioning smart watch. It does not function as a phone on your wrist. You can see who is calling and you can reject the call from the Fit but you cannot answer it. However, I do not see this as a con. I do not need a watch to be a phone. I have a phone. The watch acts as an extension of your phone giving a degree of control and functionality over your phone. The look and style of the Gear Fit is very nice. It has a futuristic look without attracting too much attention. The resin band seems durable yet light weight. It is also very nice that the watch is water dirt resistant. When I am done exercising and sweating I simply rinse it off with mild soap and water.Initial setup of the watch and the syncing of apps for notifications for texts, emails, phone calls, social media etc. was straight forward. There are many things you can do to personalize and tweak your Gear Fit to look and behave like you want it to. You can import pictures from your phone to set as your wallpaper, change the color of the wallpaper to match your clothes or mood, turn on or off notifications as your desire. Choose what apps you want notifications fromCons:Sometimes the Gear Fit does not automatically sync with the S Health app. At first I wasn't sure how to fix this. Through some tinkering, I figured out that I sometimes need to go to device manager on my phone and close the S Health app. When I reopen it, it syncs immediately with the Gear Fit importing any new data. I don't know why it does this periodically, but the fix is easy enough.I am not a big guy and do not have a big wrist but I wear the Gear Fit almost near the end. There are only four holes left before it cannot adjust any larger. So I don't think this watch will fit someone with a large wrist. The Gear Fit is awkward if it is worn like a traditional watch and viewed horizontally. It requires you to turn your wrist at an awkward angle to view anything other than the time. There are two fixes for this: 1) You could wear the Fit on the inside of your wrist. This makes the viewing much easier; or 2) Change the display orientation to vertical. This allows you to wear the watch with the face on top of your wrist and makes viewing and reading the screen much easier.Overall, I really like the Samsung Gear Fit. It has jump started me on the road back to a healthier lifestyle, it looks cool, and does exactly what I need it to do. And all this without putting a huge dent in the bank account.
