When copper is gold
I have used henna before but this brand is now my favorite. I was born with red hair but at 50 I now have white, silver and brown/deep auburn hair. The white is really a problem because it is coming in in thick streaks, (like the Bride of Frankenstein)on the top of my forehead just above my eyebrows! My hair is long hair that could be in a TV commercial, it is that fine and silky. This is mostly genetic, but in part also because I have never over processed my hair, not with heat or products or over shampooing. So to keep my hair until I am 100 in perfect health is a goal.I used the copper all over my hair and it came out so pretty with varies shades of copper, gold and red depending on which shade of my hair it was hitting. Now for the streaks - I can only say they came of a copper red a very pretty color, but I don't like having such distinct and dramatic color, so I mixed up just a little Avigal Auburn like a 1/4 cup and applied that just to the streaks. Perfect, now all my hair matches and it has lovely shades of auburn, gold, and copper. It looks totally natural and super shinny and healthy.Notes about using henna: Read the insert from Avigal twice. It's messy, messy, messy. I mix up a batch and bring a mirror onto the patio and towels, a change of cloths and everything I need and plan for a day in the sun. (I live in SW Florida). I rinse the whole mess out with the hose outside. If you can't do that, do this in the kitchen and put down a drop cloth. Especially if you have long hair. Maybe short hair is not so messy.Buy the disposable gloves from the grocery store. The type that are used in the hospital. I use plastic bags to wrap my head and olive oil to avoid staining my skin.Henna looks like baby ca-ca and smells like wet spinach. I put ground cinnamon about a 1/2 tablespoon in the mix when it is dry and a few drops of essential cinnamon oil as I am mixing. That takes care of the smell. I think any such combination of oil or herbs would take care of the smell.Avigal says to add a little olive oil to the mix, I've never done that. I am afraid the oil would get between my hair and the henna. But that's just me. Conditioning after is really important.Last note: I leave the henna on my hair as long as I can, 3 to 4 hours. If I am not in the sun enough to heat up my head (I don't want to faint!)then I get the blow dryer out and heat my head with that. Of course I do the blow dryer thing and/or sun thing, after I have changed into clean cloths from the original mess. I think leaving the henna for so long time may be one of the reasons I get such great results and fantastic shine! And then rinse, rinse, rinse & rinse.I went to a party last night, a dinner dance, and so many people complimented my hair. It's not uncommon for me to get compliments on my hair.

Henna s hard to self apply for highlights -no duh
After re diving and opening, I discovered that this product was not recommended for covering/highlighting my grey hairs. Apparently there is a two step process. I wish I understood that prior to opening. I used it anyway. My grey is across the top of head so it was a random application...drat bifocals...but what I had in the end was some grey and some copper highlights. Never deterred, I bought Light mountain Natural color the grey. Both products are henna and appropriately earth easy but this has it all in one. I might add that could have just gone all copper but that was not what I was looking for...so tomorrow I try again.

Amazing but... natural )))
I never used henna but always wanted to. So after dying my hair with box dye (and basically killing the hair little by little...) I decided to go natural. Be prepared it's going to be messy. First of all, the instructions are INSIDE the can without even a plastic zip, so it's more or less a pain to retrieve it from there and clean. Second, I made a mistake and added less water than required. Yes I made it "soft and liquidy", but thing is, it thickens by second. As a result, it was difficult to apply, especially you have to do so on dry hair. So, keep in mind - add more water than you think it needed )) I used a disposable shower cap and it worked perfectly. I held it one hour and my hair went from ashy blond (my natural color) to reach and natural goldy-honey red. I have very coarse hair, and especially after so many dyings with chemicals it didn't look well. This thing gave it instant nourishment and it looks happy now. Feels smoother and thicker, too. Also, the smell to me is important. With the box dye, I had to hide in the bathroom with working vent so the rest of the family doesn't inhale that horrible stench. With henna, I wouldn't say it smells pleasantly... but it's very mild and natural, like some spice. I would love to order more now that I tested it, but it's not available...Overall, if you prioritize health over convenience - then it's your thing.

Great!
I have never used henna before this product, and only dyed it once using semi permanent dye. My hair is naturally dark to medium brown. I wanted to try red, so I bought this. The first time I used it, I mixed warm water and a little olive oil with the henna and left it on my hair for three hours wrapped in plastic wrap and covered with a hat. The result was slightly more shine and thickness, and some red highlights that were more noticeable in the sun.I wanted a deeper color, and also my roots were growing out, so I dyed a second time about a month later. This time I mixed the henna with warm water, extra olive oil for softness, cinnamon to cover the earthy smell, and orange juice for acidity. I left it on overnight (about 6 hours) and when I rinsed it out I used shampoo but no conditioner. It was practically orange for a day or two, and then it deepened to a nice reddish chestnut color with red highlights. It feels very soft as well.I would definitely recommend this product. I liked the results a lot. Keep in mind that natural henna is permanent-the color is there until it grows out. Also remember that henna is semi transparent, and since it coats your hair with color the results may differ depending on your hair color. I would leave it on overnight for the strongest color, and remember to deep condition. It does dry your hair out
