Original Montgomery Mens Fashion Classic Wool Double Breasted Pea Coat

This is a great quality coat. The wool and seams are nice and thick compared to cheaper coats and it’s warm for temps in the 20’s and 30’s so far. But I recommend reviewing the manufacturer’s sizing chart on their website, not the sizing chart on Amazon. According to the manufacturer’s website these are made with a “generous” fit. I’m 6’ 175lbs and normally a size 38 or 40 in suits and blazers and the medium in this coat swallowed me whole. I had to exchange it for a small, which fits me really well.

This jacket runs ridiculously large. This is not “sized up” for layering it is just poorly made. I where a medium usually. Looking at their sizing and reading reviews I ordered an extra small... I was swimming in it looking like I was 12 wearing my dad’s coat. Xtra small fits like a large or even xtra large. I don’t get it... returned and they gave money back fast. So no complaint there, but I don’t know wants a coat fitting two sizes larger than it should. Be warned

I love it. Just know that it isn't form fitting. Meaning the sides aren't tapered to conform to your body. But the wool seems like good quality.

I believe that this coat is one of the best pea coats I’ve seen definitely a coat made for the winter it’s a little tight on me but I knew it could be I just need to loose a few pounds and the color is great

Purchased this for a Christmas present and almost did not give it to the person I bought it for. Living in Florida, I have no use for this coat but it was so nice I wanted to keep it. The recipient loved it and it looks great on him. This is a nice, well made, stylish coat.

Firstly, let me say, this is a beautiful quality Reefer Jacket from a British Company with a renowned heritage and I doubt you could find a better one anywhere - regardless of price. I emailed Duffle Coats UK with an enquiry about the correct size for a 46" chest and was informed that a large would go up to a 48" chest and an XL up to a 50" chest. I ordered a large on that basis only to find that whilst it fits perfectly on the shoulders, when buttoned-up, the jacket is just that bit too tight and pulls when tried with a jumper beneath it (when unbuttoned, I can see that an extra couple of inches on the chest would make the jacket fit comfortably) As such, I will return the jacket to Amazon and reorder another Reefer Coat in the XL size from the same company as this is a lovely jacket.

Let me start by saying it turned up in 24 hours which was amazing. Now the important part. Sizing. I’m 6 ft 2 and 16 stones and very broad shouldered and big chested 48 inch . This jackets size . Xxl is perfect for me with enough room to lift my arms up without it feeling tight . And loads of chest room for a jumper if needed. The two front pockets are nice and deep and the quality of the material is spot on / thank you

Bought this item at a reduced price of £100, and it was far better than the ones I've tried in retail stores. Build quality feels much more robust, and is heavier as well (which may bother some). Bearing in mind the coats I tested were on Christmas sale; though discounted, still priced at £100+ range. They also lacked the traditional 'anchor' buttons, which really adds more character in my opinion.As far as the fitting goes, I will disagree that its 'big'. More than anything, I think the 'modern' ones you'll find in stores are more 'slim fit' (if not just downright odd sizing), whereas Original Montgomery has the regular 'L'. I'm averagely built and it fits perfectly; with or without an additional layering of a jumper.Of course, a 100% wool composition instead of a 75:25 blend would be the best, but those are not so easily acquired. That said, if you want a traditional 'classic' version of the Peacoat, I'd strongly recommend this one.

OK, the pea coat, or reefer jacket is an American design, and our equivalent was the duffel coat, but here we have a beautiful reefer jacket made by the foremost manufacturer of duffel coats. Plus points, it is British, well made, comfortable, available at a good price, and, unlike the cheap versions, the buttons stay on. Beautiful buttons they are two. Minus points, none. I love this coat!

The coat had a stain on it, took 32 days to get a refund!
