It's quite heavy, so probably not ideal for older ones to read to themselves unless they are quite strong, I imagine by the time they can easily hold this they would be too old for these stories.

Good stories

These are great books for beginner readers! There are 6 complete Dr. Seuss stories. The print is big and bold which makes it easier for my son to read and follow along. Definitely worth the price for six stories!

My 4-year-old student absolutely LOVED the Big Blue Book, but after reading each story 4-5 times, we were ready for a change, and I ordered the Big Red Book. She loves it equally, we have already read two of the stories 4 times. She is learning so many words, and I love the way some words repeat through different stories, so she is not just memorizing one story, but recognizing the words. I highly recommend "The Big ... Book of Beginner books, and will certainly buy other "colours" as well!
