I came across Vertical when looking for books to grab the attention of my tween-aged boys. They've plowed through all the usual sports books (Dan Gutman), fantasy (Rowling, Riordan and others) and aren't that interested in most adult fiction. Vertical strikes the perfect balance, using skateboarding as a context to tell a great story about life as a soon-to-be young adult, addressing lots of issues that consume kids that age (school, friends, etc.). They both ate it up, and I loved it too! Highly recommend this book (and hope there's a sequel so all of us can find out what happens next with Josh!).

I am a high school teacher who also loves the sport of skateboarding in all of it's forms....this book was sent to me by a friend and I bought another copy to pass along to student that reminds me of a character in the book....

Got a reluctant reader in the family? Here's the book! The skateboarding theme will draw in middle-grade boys in particular, but the realistic characters, situations, and dialogue will appeal to any young adult reader.

This is the best book I have read they are a lot of fun,sad, and happy things that happen. It has a lot of things happening in the book.

This was purchased for a Christmas gift for my 10 year old Grandson who is an avid skateboarder. The author personally signed this book for him and he was thrilled.

Fine as bought listed as not new, took a while to arrive and was quite heavily annotated and highlighted which was t expected.
