Lavamatic WS-10521 Electronic Surge Protector for Washing Machine

This device plugs into the socket behind the washer. It has a slight upward tilt on the front so it is easy to plug in the washer. We have underground electricity in my neighborhood so not too many outages, but when an outage occurs there is sometimes a power drop right after the power comes on. It is quick drop that can cause problems if the washer tries to restart. The delayed start in this surge protector does not enable the washer until the power has been on for 30 seconds (after the power drop). This can protect your appliance electronics. If it saves a $500 washer repair, it is an excellent value.

The product is a plug-in electronic surge protector meant to protect an appliance like 120VAC washing machines that use a standard 3-prong grounded plug. I bought this item because, after a technician replaced the CPU board and a door latch relay in my new and expensive front loader (fortunately, using my extended warranty), I didn't want to go through the same inconvenience again. The way this surge protector works is that when it detects a surge of power or an instantaneous power failure, it will immediately disconnect the appliance from power for 3 minutes, until it senses a continuous voltage and current and then it'll turn on softly. Now, I already have two similar protectors that work the same way, one installed for my main fridge, and one for a fridge and freezer in my garage, and despite many short power failures during several lighting strikes, none of my appliances have stopped working and so it seems the concept works. Regarding this item: We just had a series of thunderstorms and some very short power failures and, so far, the protector has worked as advertised. I cannot say that the item will work flawlessly forever but I bought it as insurance and not as a way to guarantee the future, so time will tell, but I can say definitively the item is working as expected. Overall, Value for money: I would say yes, no question, 5/5. Ease of use: Oh, yes; there's one thing I really like and that is that the socket in front of the protector is angled about 30 degrees downward which distresses the appliance's cable (the protector protrudes a few inches from the wall socket and so this angle helps fit the plug and cable from the washing machine without a big bend), so 5/5. Convenience: I would say yes, 5/5.

Great asset. My washing machine repair man suggested this. He said many of the repairs he makes, as mine was on my 11 month old washer, was in the control panel. He said a lot of this could’ve prevented by using a surge protector. I’d never even considered this. This one works great.

I used this for the laundry room. One for the washer and one for the dryer. There are times when there is a surge it does stop and it takes time to reset. So you have to restart the cycle.

Worked for a little while, then stopped. Seller gave refund.

So far so good. After a thunderstorm fried my washer machine control panel it was recommended to get a surge protector. I purchased a two pack and installed one on the washer and the other will go on the refrigerator. So far working great.

I didn’t even know I needed one until the control panel burned on my washing machine. This is made specifically for washing machines without the need for a big, power strip surge protectors. This has 4 lights that keep you aware of what is going on with your electricity. I love it so much I am buying one for everyone at work!
