I was stuck for a stocking filler for my wife for Christmas. She does like to knit so I thought perhaps a Cross Stitch kit might suit, as a change. She liked all her presents on the day, but she soon started on the kit, putting all other gifts to one side. As I write this she is working away on this “project”. No complaints or problems, she loves it. I know what to get next Christmas!

The kit comes with everything you need to create a lovely mouse cross stitch. It has coloured ink printed onto the ayda as a guide. When you’re finished stitching you hand wash the item in mild detergent (think wool washing liquid) and leave it to soak, all the printed ink comes away. We used a colour catching sheet just in case, it turned out perfect.

The pre-printed canvas is bright green and this shows through the embroidery and therefore it does not achieve the monochrome or silhouette effect. I soaked part of the canvas (as per instructions, as it claims the dye will come out) and the dye is still there and it ran. Total rubbish. I wouldn't give it any stars and it has gone in the bin as it's impossible to do. Keep your money.

Great instructions, super easy to follow and organised layout. Love the little folder it comes in. Unfortunately the string is of very poor quality. It is badly frayed and knots, tangles and is awful to thread. I'd pay an extra few pounds for quality string rather than use this, it takes more time trying to rebound the string than to do any actual sewing.

I love the fun picture the owls portray. It is not yet finished but it is a pleasure to work 9n.

No where near finished but I'm enjoying stitching this. It's so much easier than a counted cross stitch, I pretty much watch tv/film while I do it!

My daughter is upset that there is not enough thread for 3 of the colours required. I’m going to need to purchase more thread separately - very poor
