I’m not sure, as I use this on a hibachi griddle top. I have to believe there’s a non-stick coating on the waffle iron? If so, you’ll need to see how it does/doesn’t work on these types of surfaces. I wish I could have been more helpful.

No, profile rust in a cast iron pan has to be removed with a vinegar soak, steel wool and then re-seasoning.
