They hace a Cabriolet on the Cover and yet Not One page about the convertible top
Don't get me wrong, the book is helpful with my cars but 2 of them are Cabriolets and this book really let me down there. One is a manual top and my 930 slant is a power top and the mechanism's are really intricate and it's a really complicated system, anywhere from the latching motors, the ECU Module to the transmissions and the motors that raise and lower and not one word! Why did they put a Cabriolet on the cover and then not even reference it in the book. The convertibles could have had an entire section devoted to it, I don't understand why.Fortunately for fellow owners on the Pelican forums I discovered a treasure trove of info on how to repair my system and am now very knowledgeable so send me a note if you need help.

Good info but missing G50 transmission
Overall solid and good tool for 84 to 89 911 Carrera. However, it does not cover the G50 transmission which was on 87 to 89 year models. Disappointed but will keep the manual.

Very comprehensive
Bought this manual to help me with my '85 Carrera rebuild. It's very comprehensive and the pictures are pretty good to guide you through repairs and restoration.

Excellent, worth every cent
This manual is excellent, well organized, clear pictures, well illustrated. Along with Pelican Parts forum, and a book called 101 Projects for Your Porsche 911, you can handle many of the common problems found in this great car.

Disappointed that there is no real cabriolet info
I am a long time Porschephile, 20 years plus, and I bought this specifically because I needed some technical info for a 1989 911 Carrera cabriolet top repair, and there is absolutely nothing in this manual in that department. I was very disappointed in that regard. If you have a coupe, it'll be useful, as there are great photos, etc, but to say "Cabriolet" on the cover is totally false advertising. There's more info in your driver's manual about that aspect than there is in this book.

Pretty comprehensive manual, but...
Not every detail covered (e.g., throttle linkage not covered) and pictures are not good quality.

Clear pictures
I have all of the popular books on the 911 Carrera and this is a must have. The pictures are absolutely clear, which can't be said for all books. I have just read through 30 pages and felt the pictures were so impressive that I put the book down to leave a comment. It is a huge book with a hard cover. Well worth the money and a must have if you are doing your own maintenance.

great first purchase for your 911!
Very big book! It has lots of great content, don't let the price scare you! It is well worth the purchase whether you do maintenance yourself or hire it done, this manual has great intro info for the new user looking to understand the car better as well as the guy looking to do an engine rebuild!

Excellent workshop manual but...
This is an excellent workshop manual that covers all parts of the 911 Carrera built from 1984 to 1989. If you are taking care of your car, surely this book will help you - mainly because you will find descriptions matching perfectly the details of your car (contrary to other books such as the Haynes manual that stops with earlier models). However, one word of warning: do not expect descriptions a-la Haynes, with lots of details on how to carry out the various steps of one operation. Here, descriptions are essential, sometimes summarizing a whole step in a couple of lines. Therefore, some degree of interpretation and thinking before doing may be necessary (for this reason I do not rate it 5 stars). The abundant and detailed pictures accompanying the descriptions are an invaluable help. All in all, if you are serious about working on your beloved Carrera, this book is a must.

Monster of a book
Running a mid 80's 911 for an every day car for a year was a bit mad, and this book was very very good for helping out with some repairs as well as providing an idea of what is involved in larger jobs.I have little knowledge of mechanics, but helped no end with renewing brakes, alternator as well as mini servicing and repairs to interior parts and lights etc.Huge book and a good bedtime read!!
