- These inksticks contain musk, borneol and other precious aromatics normally used in Chinese medicine. The best ink sticks are fine grained and have a light, slightly ringing sound when tapped. These particular articles are highly collectible, and were often collected in much the same way as stamps are.
Anhui Province Hu kai wen ink shop opened in 1782 which has produced and sold ink for more than 200 years. It is the most famous ink shop in China, and in 1915, Hu Kai wen ink won the gold medal in the Panama.
