One direction diverter is the ONLY way to go!
I had to try this simple bent pipe made of silicone as soon as I got it. So, I put some eggs in the IP. As the directions stated, I only placed the pipe on the steam vent once I was ready to do a QR on the IP. Once I pushed the steam release button in my Ultra, the pipe tipped just a bit, but it stayed on and all the steam exited the top opening as intended. No steam shot out of the bottom. I pointed the diverter toward the stove vent, since the IP is under our cabinets. I donāt think the steam has hurt our cabinets, but didnāt want to take any chances. The big advantage is that you can prevent getting steam burn! Iāve used towels to keep the steam from shooting up and all over, but that doesnāt prevent steam from getting to close to your hand. Per directions provided, ONLY place the diverter on the vent when ready to doing a QR. Apparently, the diverter can put enough pressure on the vent to release some steam while cooking, therefore not cooking your food as intended. The diverter fits loosely over the vent, but all the steam exits it as itās supposed to.What I donāt understand about other steam diverters which have two vents is how do they prevent burns or steam from going in directions you donāt want it to! One diverter even points downward! Ouch! Talk about a nasty burn! I just point this one where I need the steam to go and in one direction! I really donāt understand the benefits of the other styles...š¤!This style costs a few bucks more but it works and has a good design for its intended purpose.

Handy item for the instant pot
I've only used this item once but it's a real "hand saver"! When trying to do a quick release of the steam, this is the only way to go. Highly recommended!

Waste of money!
This actually made more of a mess than just not using it. Two out of the three times we hooked it up to our 8-at Instant Pot the contents started spewing out the vent and I had a heck of a mess to clean up. We havenāt used it since and surprise! - no messes and only steam was released. I think the design is flawed because it allows too much of a gap in the release valve, which causes the pot contents to be released along with the steam. And, yes, I made sure the pot was not overfilled and all contents were below the fill lines.
