Candy Blankies: Cuddly Crochet for Babies & Toddlers

Received this book and found that the first half of the book is just pictures of babies on blankets. The second half has pictures of the blankets on one page and the pattern on the other. So of the 144 pages 3/4 are just pictures, not patterns. The number of pages makes you believe you are getting a lot of patterns. Not so. And the only pattern that I even found to look nice and soft and cozy is the one on the cover. The instructions are okay but the blankets themselves aren't what I want to take the time to make my grandchild or any baby for that matter.

This is an okay crochet book, but when looking through it the first time, I felt let down. The afghans are nice, but when you take away the book layout and photography, they are really just very ordinary blankets. To me, it's like an ordinary baby blanket crochet book with makeup and plastic surgery to make it appear to be more than it is. I realize that most people gave this book great reviews, which is why I purchased it, but I am disappointed with it. Maybe it is just me.

I want to start by saying I love this book! I purchased it used. The patterns in the book are awesome and the color/yarn suggestions are great. My problem is the first 40 pages and just glamour shots of kids with the blankets. I didn't think it was needed because in the pattern section, they show each blanket laying flat. If they wanted to double their page count, they should have doubled their pattern count.

Very good book. Lots of patterns and big colorful photos so you can have a better idea of the finished product. Lots of good information about yarn types and address of manufactures. And the best part, Amazon had this in my hands lickity split and I didn't have to run all over town. It seems that crotcheting is becoming a lost art and I have a hard time finding pattern bookd. Thanks AMAZON.COM !!

Okay, I'm a sucker for cute babies and cute crochet/knit projects....so sue me.I like that Ms Jensen has included some designs that move away from the over done but somehow obligatory pastel pink and blue.I worry, though, how safe her added "sheep", flowers, and pom poms are.

Can't wait to start on these cute designs; especially the cow pattern! All the designs are really cute and perfect for babies and toddlers.

The patterns in this are really cute. As this is an American book I have had to look around for substitute wool but as most of the blankets are made with aran wool it should be easy. I have ordered sirdar supersoft aran so hopefully this should be ok.
