We got this for our daughter when she was two as an alternative to her bad habits like thumb-sucking and picking on scabs. She was thrilled to get it and proudly wore it for quite a while.We've recently brought it back now that she's three because she has developed some new nervous habits like picking at the skin on her lips when she's concentrating on something, so we've encouraged her to chew on this instead. Has it worked? Somewhat. But the bigger problem is that I've noticed it's starting to crack and crumble in spots because she's chewing it a lot more. I hesitate to buy a replacement since I think it's just because she's chewing on it a lot more vigorously, and not because of her age. Also, the clasp is not very secure, so this falls off easily. I eventually just tied it in a knot since my daughter got very frustrated when it fell off and she couldn't figure out how to fasten it by herself.

This has been a huge help for our six year old who is an active chewer. He enjoys wearing it, it looks sporty, and it helps him keep focus in school. They don't last forever. Ours is pretty frayed a month in, but that is to be expected. The beauty of this material, while perhaps not as durable is other options, is that the kids find chewing it really satisfying... More so than pencils, shirts, and the other stuff they'd be otherwise destroying. Seller is fabulous. When necklace was misplaced we bought a backup. It came with a string that was too small. I emailed and she immediately responded with a promise to mail out some longer ones.

Incredible price on a sturdy, well-designed chewy necklace. Purchased for my first-grader who chews her nails and fingers. She wears it to school and it has helped. This starfish/flower shape is perfect for nail biters as the shape is similar, but still looks nice as a necklace. She has made a few cut marks in it, but it is still holding up as solid and sturdy. In case no one else has mentioned this, you can make the necklace shorter by pulling the string further out of each side of the connector end (on ours I needed tweezers to pull out one side). Then, re-knot it the length you want and cut the excess, leaving a tiny bit of room to melt the end with a lighter to keep it from fraying. Then pull the knot back into the connector end so that it is hidden inside. Repeat on the other side, and you're good to go.

I bought this for my 5 yo daughter who is a thumb sucker and started eating her shirt also. I got the necklace to stop her from eating her shirt. She wore it to school every day and used it all the time. It was great but after about a month or two she bit through the necklace and one of the pieces of the star became loose which really is a choking hazard. Also, the clasp on the necklace is not sturdy and opens up all the time. My husband had to tie a string on both sides of the necklace string to make a safety so when the clasp opened up the necklace didn't fall off. The idea and necklace is great but unfortunately doesn't last that long for a kid (not baby) chewer.

I bought this chew necklace and two shark teeth shaped ones. My son seemed to prefer the shape of this one and the feel because this was the one he usually wore. It worked for him great until the first day of school. He had so much anxiety that day he ended up ripping the chew right off of the cord that it was attached too. He is an extremely heavy chewer. I would recommend for any chewer. I would definitely purchase this again but it would be a home chew only.

Our daughter loved the look of this pendant, but she tore through it fairly quickly, much to my dismay. I didn't think she was a heavy chewer, but how can you tell based on fingernails and hair. I think it would be better rounded rather than tapered on the ends. It's just too thin along the edges. We've had better luck with a Chewigem round pendant.Both types have one other irritation and that's the safety clasp, which seems to catch and snarl in hair hair. Maybe they would be better with the clasp down near the pendant or at least slightly over the shoulder, so the string is smooth across the back of the neck.

I ordered this for my 6 year old son who has been chewing on his shirt at school, he is nervous and it's becoming a habit. Since I couldn't stop him from doing it at school, I thought this was the next best thing. This necklace is more than what I was expecting! The silicone is very high grade and the star fish is big enough I don't have to worry about him swallowing it, but small enough that it doesn't make him feel self conscious. I did shorten the string a bit because otherwise it hug to his belly button, but too long is better than too short so you can adjust it. It also has a pull clasp so it won't strangle anyone or get caught....this is important for a baby or a kid running like crazy on a playground. I am super pleased with this product! Thank you

Great customer service; fast delivery. However, I truly though this product would be more durable. Our daughter has severe oral issues and we were looking for something to switch out with her chewy tube that would be just as durable. She got through this one within three days (even though we constantly switch the chewies out to help them last longer).I would say this is great for teething children or children who don't require something as durable as an actual chewy tube. Such a great idea and super cute. Just not durable enough for our household.
