Incredible book. Without doubt a stunning collection of desert photographs. You would be hard pressed to find a better one.Best I have ever seen and I have a good collection of this kind of book. This one now takes pride of place in my collection.Jaw dropping images on every page.Well written descriptions of the subjects depicted and interesting short stories highlighting some of the author's more memorable moments on the various expeditions undertaken to record these images.If you have only one book on deserts then this should be it.

I love deserts and have MANY books about them. This is a beautiful book with a huge number of spectacular photographs from all of the arid deserts around the world. George's stories of his experiences capturing these images were engaging. It was fun to read and also educational. I'm surprised I didn't find the book sooner.

Superb book. George has an amazing eye and the landscapes he has caught on film are simply stunning. I like the strand of environmental protection that is wound through the book - after 15 years of travelling in environmentally sensitive areas he has seen the impacts of the current way of human life, and uses the imagery to document this. It is also great to live a bit vicariously through him, flying low over super arid zones around the world. Would highly recommend the book as a coffee table book and to teach people about the impacts that our current lifestyles have on the environment.
