Nice product for the $$
For what they are, these tongs have functioned well for the first three or four full weekends of use. Seem to be well made, sturdy, and operate smoothly. No problem picking and placing logs right where you want them. Had no problem at all with mid to larger size logs or splits, but surprisingly, it does take a bit of practice to get ahold of the smaller stuff. One thing I wish I'd thought of before purchase... The 26" length is sure to work very well for a fireplace, or a raised fire pit. In my opinion, they are a bit too short for an in ground fire pit if you want to avoid too much bending or reaching. This was especially clear to me when using after a full day of splitting, which is probably why I noticed this like I did . It would be nice to keep your hands a bit further from the heat as well. So.... I'll keep a pair of hearth gloves handy and see how long these last.

Durable
I was skeptical when this first arrived. After 1 year of use I am extremely satisfied with this. It is easy to move logs around the fire. I leave this out in the open and as you can see it holds up well. It is a bargain. My wife uses this often. The picture is after 1-year of use leaving this outside the whole time. Make the purchase. You can't go wrong.

Make them shorter and I'll never look at another pair of tongs again, I swear!
Good for a wood stove. It's difficult to find tools for wood stoves and tools that are sturdy rather than decorative.I opted to not buy a set of tools for our wood stove and, instead, assembled a set of the tools I actually need and got a coal hob to keep them all in. For a wood stove, I really only need three tools and you only get two of those with the sets plus ones I'd never need or use.I would go from the four star "like" to the five star "love" if these were a bit shorter and felt a bit more substantial. They are not by any means flimsy but we are, for lack of a better term, power users of our wood stove and when I say that time will tell how long these will last, that time is going to be shorter in our house than in most. Really, though, it would be great if they were shorter. Moving wood around in a wood stove is a delicate procedure as compared to a fireplace - there is a more limited amount of space in which to work and more surfaces upon which to burn yourself. If these were shorter, it would be far more comfortable, quicker, and easier to move logs around in the stove because the further the weight is from your hands, the harder it is to hold (fulcrum issues and stuff). Yes, there is a balance between being a distance from flaming hot stuff and comfortable, confident, secure holding of flaming hot stuff and these don't quite get that balance right. Maybe for a fireplace?I still use them, of course, and they are far better and more substantial than absolutely ANYTHING else you are going to find at this price point. I just wish they were shorter.

Use it for the purpose
It works great! My mom has a heavy iron one that I've bumed for my trips but I decided to get my own. This is much lighter weight (hers was make in the era where they used good materials to make it. Not cheap metals)I see reviews of people complaining about the end twisting so they aren't aligned. I do believe it's because they are grabbing the wood to put it in the fire especially heavy wood. They aren't made to do that. Sorry but you gotta get your hands a little dirty when you have a fire. Also it's not ideal to leave it sitting up against the fire ring when not in use.I shall see how it hold up for years to come but it does the the initial job of moving the wood around the fire pit.

Excellent fires & use less wood
I like this tool for good placement of additional wood to the fire. Plus it allows pieces that aren't on fire to be picked up and reutilized so they add to the flames, not just end up as coals...extending the fire without adding more wood.

This is how you up your campfire game
These are the perfect tool for an avid camper! They fold up neatly to stow, are lightweight yet sturdy, and affordable enough to replace. We are full time RVers and thought this tool might be a clever way to replace our old rusty poker that had served us well over the years. By extending it fully it works pretty much as the old poker but the ability to grab a log and flip or relocate it has been great! By compressing it fully it fits in any compartment (or camp box for car campers).

Perfect medium duty fire tongs
Just got these for our fire-pit and used them for the first time last night. My only regret is that I didn't buy these years ago. These are absolutely perfect. I have never been more actively engaged in managing our fire-pit. With these I was easily able to frequently maneuver logs as needed. I read a couple of people complaining about moving small logs. I experienced the same thing till I realized that's what the flat tips at the end are for. Between the circular grabber for big logs and the flat tips at the end you can handle any size log with ease. These are not thick and heavy wrought iron tongs but are still sturdy and capable of handling all but the most heavy duty needs.
