Fantastic story of a woman before her time. Tragedy could not her, weather did not stop her She kept working to ensure her champagne and wine would produce and sell and be at a level that her competition would wonder. Not much was know and the author did a lot of research to pull this story into a romantic, knowledgable heartbreaking and yet a huge success for Widow Cliquot. Champagne and History
This is a fun read with a little bit of French history mixed with champagne lore. The author didn’t have a lot to work with so there’s quite a bit of speculation about The Widow but she did a good job of weaving together what little historical date she had about this winemaker. I’m planning a trip to this part of France so this was a nice introduction to the area and the production of Champagne.

lots of detail
Interesting story of a woman entrepreneur but lots of details about grapes and wine making. The story of her life was good.

A trailblazer and entrepreneur makes a great read!
I recommend this book! I learned more about champagne and toasted to Madame Clicquot with her Veuve Clicquot while reading! She had an interesting life. In the absence of letters and historical documents, the author wrote a very good account of her life!

Extraordinary
My absolute favorite book! If you are looking for inspiration, look no further. This book should be read at all Business Schools. The author had audacity to pull together all the little bits of information she could find and weave them through history to give us what could only be described as a moving tale of one woman’s quest to survive and thrive dispute revolution, being widowed and being a woman in business when there really was no such thing. Cheers to the authors brilliance, dedication, immense research and clear command of history.PS: Also make a great gift with a bottle of the Yellow Label for almost any occasion!
