One of my favorite books
Bought this as a gift to a long distance friend of mine. It was a book I had read a few years back and thought she might like. She loves it too.As far as the content goes, it’s definitely a pretty triggering book. If you are sensitive to content pertaining to sexual assault, eating disorders, addiction, or depression, I would recommend staying away from this one. However, this is a fantastic book and has been one of the best iterations of unreliable narration and the reality of mental illness I’ve seen in any novel.

Mixed Feelings
This is the story of a girl named Giselle, who is struggling with anorexia. Life is hard because her father just died and she is going through med school. This book alternates between the main character and her little sister, who has a few problems of her own, with school and being near deaf.Giselle's chapters sometimes contain flashbacks. They are memories of her father when she is younger, and how he showed extreme favoritism for the little sister.SKINNY is very emotional. It's also NOT the cookie-cutter story of an anorexic. That's not a good thing though... some of the other reviews are right: Sol is a borderline pedofile, the medical dictionary entries at the beginning of chapters have nothing to do with the story, it never explains why the father (pretty much) hates Giselle, and the mother's character is very under-developed.Also, I've never read a book with SO many typing errors. It was unbelievable! It's hard to focus on some parts of the book if you haven't read it in 2 or 3 days. Make time for it, if you dare decide to read it.Oh, and the popsicle on the cover? It has no symbolic meaning at all. Pitiful.

Very good dark book.
Dark, heart aching, and devestating. This is a book that you read and you feel it afterwards. Beautiful writing style, multiple points of view, and the descent of a woman into mental illness. Written real, gritty, and truthfully. Skinny doesn't hide behind subtext or illusion: everything is as it seems. An extremely well written, and hunting work of literature.

Depends on your patience for reading. :)
So I was at my local dollar book store to help my younger brother find a bio book for a project and while I was helping looking, this book looked really interesting, I decided to go check it out on my Kindle. Reading page by page, I felt as if I had to go back and reread some of the paragraphs. I would recommend this book to someone with patience reading, but I just don't think this book was for me. Sorry. I would read it if I had nothing else to read! :)

Was super excited to read this book until I opened it and the first 24 pages are ripped out.

My favorite book
this book touched on so many internal thoughts that are relatable beyond the physical relations most books possibly touch on. With the added medical terms and definitions scattered throughout the book, they gave a educational breaks from the intensity of the story while supplying better understanding of what was going on.

Storyline, but No Solid Plot
I recently read the kindle version of this book. I was excited to read it because of the good reviews, but after reading the book I don't understand why there were so many. The first 10 chapters are really slow and a storyline does not develop until after then. Even though there is a storyline, there is not a concrete plot to the book, otherwise a very minor one. The conflict and resolution is basically a descriptive story of of two sisters dealing with one of the sister's struggle with anorexia. I would not even recommend this book to a person who has an eating disorder because it has a very sad ending and gives the impression that if you suffer with this disease you will never overcome it. The only reason I gave this book two stars instead of one is because it was very poetic and eloquently written.

Sad.
Sad but good, this is one of the best books I've read so far about anorexia.Including both the sisters' point of views really helps the reader understand what they are both going through.

Beautiful
This book is split between two characters points of veiw, which differs from the majority of books based on eating disorders as they normally focus on the protoganist, whilst Kaslik uses her sisters point of view and attitude toward the diseease. Thus giving two protagonists who see the world through different eyes Giselle has an eating disorder and it consumes her world even though she is intelligent enough to know better, she is a med student doing well. Holly her sister does'nt understand why or what is going on, these two veiw points highlight and contrast eachother, bouncing the reader between the two trains of thought. It is written perfectly and doesn't glamourise eating disorders and faces the reader with facts and medical extracts within Giselles parts in the book. Good read for many the story traps you and you care for them.
