Power On? Power Off?
I purchased this IR blaster to use with a Sony TV, an air conditioner, and a new Android Streaming Box.Setup is pretty simple. Just install the SmartLife app and select "TV" to add a television. You will get a database of TV brands. I selected Sony, smart huh? The app doesn't provide specific models as most brands use the same IR codes for their different models anyway. The app then displays a device control layout on your phone and instructs you to try a few functions. They seemed to work on the first go so I accepted and moved on to the streaming box. While there were hundreds of brands listed, I could not find one that matched the streaming box. Fortunately, there is a DiY selection that lets the blaster learn IR codes directly from your remotes. It is very easy to do. Just point the remote at the blaster about a half-inch away. It doesn't matter which edge because it has a 360-degree coverage. Press the button you wish to learn and wait for the app to respond, enter a name for that function and press save. Very simple. You can then rename the device from DiY to something like "Android", which is what I did.My intent was to use Alexa to voice control the blaster and it is supposed to have this capability. However, since the TV codes doesn't offer discrete IR options for power ON and OFF, you are left with a simple toggle. Although most remotes have a single POWER button, most devices have discrete codes. This means that if you say "Alexa, turn ON the TV" while the TV is already on, that it will turn off and vice versa. This becomes problematic if you intend to have Alexa routines, say, to shut off the systems when you retire for the night. If you add a "Turn Off" command but you were reading a book that night instead of watching Netflix, it will turn ON your TV.Besides this little caveat, I noticed that the unit would not tun on the TV after it remained dormant for a long time, like overnight. If I gave Alexa the command to turn on the TV, the green light ring on the blast would illuminate, indicating it was sending a code, but the TV would remain off. I tried issuing the command four or five times, but it would not work. If I then turned on the TV with its own remote and issued the command to Alexa, it worked perfectly. It would turn off and on then fine until it sat for a day. I'm not certain of exactly how long it would take to become inoperative, but this is not important because it should never have been. The other problem is, Alexa would not recognize ANY attempt to control the Android box, even though it was listed in Alexa as an operable and connected device. All I got from her was "I don't know a device named Android" or "I'm not sure" and the typical responses when she can't operate something.I also have a window air conditioner made by Frigidaire. although the brand is listed in the A/C database, it would not control mine. Another strike. So, needless to say, I was not about to settle for a device that turns on a device I ask to turn off and will operate no other useful function. If this is an issue with the IR Blaster or the Amazon Alexa, I cannot truthfully say, but a more-functional voice command setup will have to be put on the back burner until I find something that is better.

Good, but not great. Inconsistent scenes in Smart Life app.
This is a review for multiple products being combined together.I first tried two smart IR controllers using the Smart Life app (MOEs smart IR and zemismart) to control some flood light LEDs from SGLEDs. They were good, but not good enough. They got the job done, but they were inconsistent on the custom scenes and triggers. For comparison, the RM Mini does a pretty good job, but maybe around 5% of the time the scenes / triggers have an issue. Whereas the Smart Life app had a 50% success rate for me.Instead, I combined the Broadlink RM Mini 3 (a smart universal IR remote controller) with the SGLEDs 50W and 70W RGB outdoor flood light. This is a good cheap DIY solution to get strong and bright smart lights that can be controlled through Alexa (or other smart apps). The RM Mini 3 itself was very easy to setup and has good range. Compared to the smartlife app of the Zemi smart and moe's devices, the Broadlink RM Mini 3 wins. It is easier to use, very logical, and the scenes were much more reliable.

It does the job!
Pros:- Easy to setup- Supports most devices- Range is good.Cons:- Only supports limited types of devices. i.e TV's, AC's, fans and set top boxes. Would be great if it supported sound bars and other audio devices.- Would be great with more Alexa or google voice control features. Currently I only get basic features such as turning the TV on/off, volume up/down and channel up/down.- As the product info states, DIY remotes are not supported for voice commands.Overall it does what it's intended to do and that's make 'dumb' tech smart. Love it.

Wish the software interface was better
I purchased this with the intent of controlling my Split Unit AC's remotely. This does not integrate with Alexa nor Google home for that purpose. However, you can download their proprietary software (SmartLife) and program the App remote functions manually. This works fine, however the interface is unnecessarily inefficient. I have to navigate thru a few menus just to turn on or off the AC each time. 1st world problem I guess....

Very good range ans easy Alexa integration
These gadgets all work the same and this is very good. Don't expect robust dummy proof instructions as this expect some kind of knowledge on what you are doing. I control over 8 different electronics including mini-splits and lights all working great. Highly recommended.

Affordable compared to competitors
Overall great product for the price. I was able to connect to voice control Siri using Smart Life app (that’s all I want).I have my old AC so the app couldn’t find the product. Sometimes even if you managed to find the product the remote buttons will be different. I’m using voice control so is not an issue because I can program the button the way I want. Love to map the buttons manually. The only negative is the coverage. If you have devices in your living room and bed room you might need two. But I understand this is IR.

You need only one for all your appliances in a room
i have 2 of them. The y are great. you can control several devices. i bought for the first time another (another brand) device and it allowed me to handle just one air conditioner. Now with the same device i can control all the devices in a room. Additionally i can manage the using alexa or Google home assistant. I am buying one for every room

Eccellente e finalmente aggiornato!!

Interesting hardware with a very poor software
I love this product from hardware perspective. It priced reasonably and it worked. However, the poorly written software failed this product. Firstly, the collection of existing models is very limited and you are likely to have to program most of the remote controls yourself, but the hardware allows that to be done quite easily. However, for controls that required 2 pages of interface, you can't program the 2nd page (most of the time). e.g. fig 1 show the list of a buttons available. click on "More" will bring you to 2nd page for more buttons (fig 2). click on "Edit" function on the top right corner enable you to reprogram all the buttons using your existing remote controller by long pressing the button you want to re-program using the existing remote controller. (fig 4). 1st page works fine and all the buttons can be re-programmed. However, from the 2nd page, click on “Edit” function gives different options (fig 5) and none allows you to re-program as page 1 did. if I select "Edit" function from page 1, and try pressing "More" hoping to get to page 2, it will instead gave me a blank screen (fig 3) without any button available to long press. However, the "123" button (on the left bottom of page 1 screen in fig 1) works (fig 6). It is so frustrating because the software is buggy and inconsistent. You can use the DIY choice with Custom Type to recreate all the buttons yourself instead of facing the above dilemma. Yes, it works but you cannot sort your buttons (imagine programming 30 buttons), therefore, you must plan carefully the sequence of your buttons and program them accordingly.Lastly, the software quality control is also very poor. The recent version 3.19.1 caused me to lose all the programming, however, reverting back to 3.18.2 (previous version), I get back the programmed buttons again (they have now upgraded to 3.19.2 and the problem is resolved). As a developer myself. I dare say I have no confident in this product with such a poor software quality.

Consigliato
