Good Early Styx Music!!
Even though "Best of Styx" was released about 2 years after they left Wooden Nickel it is a good representation of their early music recorded from 1971 to 1974. The only true hits here are "Lady" and "Best Thing". The rest of the songs are quite good. This album was originally released in 1977 as sort of a last attempt by Wooden Nickel to cash in on Styx. They had a legal battle with them about breach of contract 2 years earlier and this is maybe the last album they released before they went under in 1977. This album was re-released in 1980 along with the early 4 studio albums in 1980 with different artwork. The new artwork was done in a sort of art deco style by Tim Clark and is terrible. Go with the original artwork (as I did) when looking for this album and the other 4 early releases. Even though this album is out print it's well worth the money if you can find a decent copy.

The early 70's
I used to have this on cassette. I finally got around to getting it on CD. If you're a Styx fan, don't forget about their early years.
