Two Volcanos and a Blog
Two Volcanos is a very nice coffee. I bought it because my usual coffee brands had been declining in quality. I am not the first guy to notice this decline. I hear talk about it everywhere. So I decided to seek out something new.In searching the web for ideas, I came across a blog about coffee by a guy named Marc Wortman. I highly recommend that you check out his website at makegoodcoffee.com. The guy does not promote any brand names. He just discusses coffee in all its aspects. I learned about the coffee berry borer beetle problem on one of the Hawaiian Islands from Marc's site. I had never heard of the beetle before, but now I'm an expert.Anyway, Marc mentioned that in his opinion the best coffee beans are grown in Guatemala. I didn't even know they grew coffee in Guatemala. I didn't even know for sure where Guatemala was. But I took Marc's advice and I searched Amazon for coffee from Guatemala. Marc specifically mentioned that the coffee berries from the Antigua area in Guatemala are the best, but I couldn't find an Antigua coffee on Amazon. Two Volcanos is Guatemalan coffee. I don't know if it's grown in Antigua, but I figured maybe not, but at least it's from Guatemala. So I ordered Two Volcanos.I am no expert on coffee; but Two Volcanos is certainly better than what I've been drinking lately. They sent me an email advising me to try using different amounts of coffee in brewing my coffee until I find the perfect amount to suit my tastes. I am in the process of doing this right now. I also bought a coffee press, based on reading about it on Marc Wortman's website; and I intend to try the coffee press method of brewing soon.Anyway, I intend to continue trying other coffees but I do like Two Volcanos. I have ordered some Kona Gold (or something like that) from Amazon. This comes from Hawaii. According to Marc the beans are so highly desired that 100% Hawaiian Gold would cost you a fortune. So they blend the Hawaiian Gold beans with Arabica beans from Brazil so you can get some of the enjoyment of the coffee taste without breaking your bank account.Well, good luck in your search for good coffee. I hope my comments help you. I am drinking Two Volcanos coffee as I write. I have increased the amount of coffee I use. Today I ground up a 6-cup amount of coffee beans and only used 4 cups of water. This is the best I've tasted so far.

The taste comes out perfectly when you blend it nothing wrong with it by itself probably.
This is a very good coffee perhaps on its own I blend it with two other coffees one Hawaiian one Costa Rican

Great for high-end medium roast fans
The medium roast crowd is in for a treat with Two Volcanoes Medium Roasted. With a strong enough pot, even dark roast connoisseurs will like this coffee, as I did. You will note the mixed reviews; this is due to a lack of experimentation. You must brew this very strong to get an acceptable level of flavor. This is a medium roast. From a dark roast point of view, half the flavor potential of the bean is wasted. But before you toss the bag, try using 50% more coffee and you will be rewarded with a very good "Roadside Diner" style of coffee.Clearly, at least from an aficionado point of view, this is not the best use of these outstanding beans--the roast is far too light. If you are very serious about coffee and are wondering what you can get for $20, the price when this review was written, frankly you can do better. If you like Folgers and want to step up, you probably won't notice the distinctive and beguiling personality of the very good Guatemalan beans. But a 'medium roast specific' connoisseur or someone that likes very good roadside diner coffee is going to absolutely love this, assuming they brew it very strong. Think about who you are, and if this is in your zone you will be pleased.

Not as complex a flavor as TJ micro lot Guatemala beans
I purchased this in my hunt for a Guatemalan coffee I enjoyed as much as my local TJ micro lot Guatemala beans. This is typical of most coffee of this region...pretty much chocolate and not as astringent as beans from India and Africa I have tried. I like a complexity of flavor to anything I drink and this falls really short. For what it is, I guess it's OK. I won't purchase it again though. I guess my hunt continues or I have to just accept I only get to enjoy those beans during the short time they are in season.

Great beans!
Just to be clear I'm not very well versed when it comes to the many varieties of coffee beans that are out there, but I do know when I'm drinking good coffee. This is definitely one of them. The beans aren't oily when you open the package and most people would be quick to think that they're old or dry. That's not the case though. The way these beans are roasted makes them retain the oils inside of the beans. When you grind the beans just before making coffee you'll notice that these beans are significantly more aromatic compared to beans that are oily on the outside, especially beans who were oily at first but dried out over time. This coffee has a nice mild flavor but it doesn't lack in the flavor department at all. There isn't even a hint of bitterness to it at all, but that does depend on how you brew it. Over-extracting can make any coffee taste bitter but if you brew this coffee right you won't have that issue at all. This coffee has been my go-to for two months now and I'm still loving it. I'm about to buy my third bag at this point because everyone in my family likes it a lot too. If you're looking for a cup of coffee that's tasty but not overpowering you should definitely try these beans.
