The Compleat Klezmer
I had checked this book out of my local public library and had to get myself a copy. This is a great compilation of klezmer tunes, lots of variety. But more, the lengthy introduction gives a context for the various types of tunes, the scale that they're in, and hints on rhythm and instrumentation. I'm a non-performing dabbling accordion player who grew up playing piano. This is a great book for me and probably for a much more sophisticated player.

Works for Guitarists!
My husband could NOT BE MORE HAPPY!! He has been playing around with Klezmer sounds for a while now, but has been limited by his knowledge and the information out there for his specific instrument (guitar, which is not super common in Klezmer!). This book fulfilled his every want and need - the exercises are challenging, but he is making great progress and has fun as he does it! Fantastic book - and works for guitar players!

Superb book
Concise and excellent review of klezmer music theory and history, written by legends in the field. Should be required reading for anyone who wants to be a klezmer musician.

A good complement to other books with excellent background in how the music is to be played and its structure ....Compleat is a bit of a misnomer otherwise one could hardly lift the book.

Excellent technical intro
Especially liked the Technical Intro by Pete Sokolow; it explained a lot about klezmer music's unique sounds. Also the intro info for each tune was very useful.

Amazing
Obviously a great book. I started playing Klezmer at my university in September and only just bought this book, and it is full of tunes. Surprised to find that the Rumanian Doina is very familiar - still have yet to find out why! Loads of tunes in here, and a great explanation of the origins of Klezmer and different accompanying rhythms etc. at the beginning of the book.
