Solid Idea, Lackluster Execution
Been lifting for several years now and while dumbbells haven't done me wrong, I'm always on the look-out for new things to incorporate into my routine. So it was when I stumbled onto kettle bells and decided to give this book a try (my first on the subject of kettle bells). The good news is the author does a good job breaking out specific sports into functional exercises and creating routines that execute them. While you may be able to find similar information on the internet, it is nice to have a "one-stop-shop", especially for someone like me who may want to hit multiple "sports" in the interests of diversity (as opposed to actually participating). Even if they aren't "100% correct, they pass the "common sense test" for usefulness for the sports detailed. For this reason, the book got 3 stars. The problem is the opening third (or so), spent detailing the specific kettle bell exercises, are lackluster to say the least. They alternate between poorly describing the couple kettle bell specific exercises and how to safely execute them and poorly describing "standard" weight lifting exercises (squats, rows, etc) and how to execute them with kettle bells. The poor descriptions is doubly troubling since it doesn't take much imagination on how to replace a dumbbell with a kettle bell for a bent row (or most of the other exercises). In the end, I'm disappoint with the book because I didn't learn much from a "kettle bell" point of view, but in the end was pleased with sports specific exercises.

Well written, highly specialized routines for athletes and other professionals.
Among the most valuable tools for an effective exercise regimen is a well-researched plan. This book provides that, in spades; it's an excellent resource, and the information is organized well. The pictures are extremely helpful, and the suggested routines are highly effective, and highly specialized to the unique needs of each sport.

New to Kettlebells
I'm a weightlifter looking to incorporate something different to change up the routine. This book is the perfect solution for someone looking to learn the proper techinques to get into kettlebell training. I also liked the fact there were different routines illustrated for whatever sport you are training for. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to take their strength training to the next level. Bellomo does a great job using his personal experience in Kettlebell training to set you in the right direction. Enjoyed it!

Very good!!!!!!
Probably the best weight training book I have ever seen because the author gives week by week routines just to get you used to the kettlebell exercises. Then he breaks it down to sport specific training programs for a variety of sports... this includes Off Season, Pre-Season, In-Season and Post Season training programs that will help you get stronger.About 40% of the exercises require using 2 kettlebells at the some time, so be prepared (I just orderd my 2nd kettlebell).

Great book!
This book is thorough, comprehensive, and an excellent primer for kettlebell technique. Bellomo fully describes each move in narrative form, taking great care to elucidate each step and emphasize which muscles are worked, then recaps the move in bullet points. The recaps are a great reference during a workout, when reading the full description would be awkward. The photo illustrations are very helpful. Highly recommended for the beginner or more advanced lifter.

Great training booklet
I am a personal trainer and have clients that participate in sports. I wanted to be able to help them train in a more sports specific manner, and got this book for that purpose. I now use exercises illustrated in the book, and those that I have developed, to help target those areas specific to a sport and position played.

Product Review
This books is great for someone starting training with KB like me. It gives you a good understanding what to do and how to start a workout. Then takes you through more moves that guides you to progress in your workouts. The book provides samples of plans to follow. Recommend this book.

Stay away
If you are interested in beginning or extending kettlebell training, do not buy this book! He misses critical safety points. Pavel's Enter the Kettlebell is miles ahead of this and does have the required emphasis on safety and technique. I've been swinging bells for well over a year and know how easy it is to get hurt if done wrong. Kettlebell training is awesome, you've made a great choice to start, but don't start here.

Not about technique but improving your training
This is a good book for those already used to kettlebells. The technique stuff in Pavel's books is covered in far more detail but that isn't the main point of having this book. The sport specific training is targeted and incremental. Very good for building yourself up technique wise and feeling your conditioning improve by obvious increments. You won't become a Hulk doing this but that's the point, this will give you sport related muscle or overall fitness improvements. Recommended whether you have one or two kettlebells.

Pretty good. Uses both male & females models too
There aren't to many kettlebell specific books. This is one of the better one's showing a good range of exercises. One thing that is only slightly mentioned is the weight of bell to use (they're pretty expensive so don't want to make a buying mistake). The book equally uses men and women models who are "natural" e.g they're not incredible hulk types, therefore you can definitely know that exercises is do-able. Overall a very good book with in-depth coverage of many bell exercises.
