Very nice for the money.
I have used this rod on just a couple of occasions. I was interested in the Tenkara style of fishing primarily because I wanted to have a rod that I can pack easily, carry on my motorcycle or just to toss in the car to have whenever I needed it. I have 3 western style fly-fishing rigs ranging from 7 1/2 foot to 9 foot and consider myself to be a decent fisherman. I like the idea of having just a rod/line/leader/fly...you know keep it simple and have something for when you see the fish rising!I will say that it does take getting used to the tenkara style and I've already snagged up a few times but the rod itself it a very nice rod and at the price I paid I have absolutely no complaints. A very nice bonus was having the line holder included with the rod. It's the type that clips on the shaft of the rod and then you wind your line around it when you move on or pack it up. It appears to be well constructed and has a very nice action. If you're used to western style fishing it will probably take you about an hour to get good at casting this rod.Like I said I've only gone out in warm winter conditions to get a feel for the rod...haven't gotten into any fish yet but hopefully this rod will be a blast to play them with. Definitely worth it if you want to try Tenkara and don't want to spend 100-200 for a setup!

Excellent Performance at a Great Price
Four stars because the leader line is not great, and the tippet line was very stiff. After upgrading to straight 5x tippet and kevlar furled leader, this setup is rock solid. I have fished it a number of times, and have landed a handful of trout, including a couple in the 12"+ range. Flex is nice, without being too rigid or soft. Casts easily, and has so far been very durable. I have snagged on things many times, and done the no-no of tenkara rods, and given it a few quick tugs to see if it'll come loose, and the tip has held. The line holder is great, but slightly too large. Take it off the rod while fishing, as inevitably you will sling it into the river, and put it back on the collapsed rod to wind the line on. 10/10 would buy again, and I will likely buy one of these for my brother as a gift. If it came with better quality leader and tippet, and the line holder didn't slide off, I would not hesitate to give it 5 stars.

Bench Review
Couldn't go fishing on the day I received this rod as a gift, so I thought I'd do a bench review since there are technical details left off the description. The rod weighs 3.3 oz and requires 27 pennies to bend the rod one third its length (load weight). This is pretty middle of the road for a 12 foot tenkara rod.The lillian (tie line on the end) is directly glued to the first rod segment (no swivel) and this attachment prevents the first rod segment from being removed through the second segment. The other segments can be removedso they can be cleaned or dried. The line holder that came with the rod is so lose fitting that it slides off the end of the rod so you have to take it off the rod before you use it or it just flies away. I replaced it with another line winder. It would be a simple thing to tape the winder to the rod.The rod casts nice and feels good. There are no obvious flaws in the rod pieces or the finish. The rod is dark in normal light but shows a pretty green in direct sunlight. I expect it it be a nice serviceable rod, well worth the price.

Better performance than any other tenkara I’ve fished
I purchased this as a back up rod for a recent fishing trip. I have previously owned 3 different tenkara rods, each for at least twice the price of this one and none of them even come close to performing as well. I ended up using this rod as much if not more than my traditiona fly rod during my trip. Couldn’t be happier with the quality

Great budget tenkara rod!
This is my first tenkara rod so I can't compare it to any of the other brands out there but so far, I am very happy with my purchase. The rod is lightweight, perfect for the backpacking trips that I planned on taking it on, and seems to be durable thus far. The rod comes with almost everything you need to get started but you will need to purchase the lines separately.I will note that I broke a piece of the carbon fiber pole while carelessly collapsing it. Seaquest offers the upper 2 segments of the rod for purchase as replacements but since I broke the 3rd segment, I contact their customer service and they offered to send me a flawed rod that I can pull the third segment from to replace my broken one free of charge. I'm very happy with the customer service and can't wait to get my repaired and hit the streams again!

Cheap flimsy garbage! Don't waste your time!
This review is for the tenkara line keeper. 2 out of the 3 arrived cracked and broken as seen in the pics. The plastic is extremely brittle and thin and will crack if you look at it the wrong way.

Fun rod but no tenkara line as advertised
Nice rod but felt a bit disappointed that no line was included as stated in the item description. Caught and landed a nice 10 inch brown trout this weekend on a tenkara fly. Lots of bend in the rod but it handled the fish with ease. Fun rod!
