Has anyone installed on a Powermatic 15" planer? Install on the infeed or outfeed side? Why?

In my opinion this would be a great addition to your 15" Powermatic planer. I have one installed on a 12" Makita 2030 stationary planer. (they don't make them anymore!) My personal preference would be to install on the infeed side. I believe it is most indicative of the bed to head relation. It will work on either side well however, and the control/readout does not have to be mounted where the sensor unit mounts. The cable is several feet long so you can place the indicator where ever it is most convenient. The WR550 brings accuracy and repeatablilty to your planer. Well worth the price. Has anyone installed this on a 12" Parks thickness planer and how did you do it?

I would love to have a 12" Parks planer to install this on. My Dewalt 735 is a great planer for a lunchbox style but I love good old cast iron tools.

will this work on a Powermatic 160?

Yes. The 160 is a great machine. You are lucky to have one. I have a 15" Reliant and it fits fine.

would u need the wr 510 gague to use with this gauge

No, the 510 and 550 are separate stand-alone units. The WR510 is best suited for bench top style planers. The WR550 is suited to floor model type machines. There is no need for both on the same machine.
