Great quality, safety lid prevents spills, opener a la cart
this is a great product. my only gripe is that the price has increased twice by a decent amount recently, but with the 'shipping clog' or whatever this seems to be the norm across all industries. for those saying the lid is hard to get off, search for 'pail opener' to find the pry tool. i for one like the lid, can you imagine accidentally tipping over a huge bucket of lye?! Also, it prevents the entire volume of air in the bucket from being exchanged. negligible if you just open and close it, but the basic lye reacts with the acidic carbon dioxide in the air and loses potency. those saying this product did not work for them, seized etc probably were sloppy about closing the lid tightly (i learned the hard way too) but this is a AAA product, just wish it were the original price of like 120-130

Great product and service
This product is great and every time I order they ship promptly. I've tried other companies that didn't even ship my product until it was supposed to arrive. I'm very glad to have tried this company!

A bit hard to manage, but good product.
Like the other reviews have said, it's a bit hard to open and work with. As soon as I got it I did the difficult job of redistributing it into large canning jars, and it's been working great for me! I've made several batches of cold process soap with it and have run into no hiccups.

Very active Lye
I use it for cold process soap making, and it works like a charm. It is a good, strong, active lye, and I have not yet had a failed batch. I am halfway through the bucket and I will definitely order again.

Cesspool clean up
This worked wonders. I have a house built in the 1950s. It still has old cesspool system in it that had started to fail over the last 5 years or so. To the point were we thought we were going to have to put a new septic systems in. I bought this as one last hail Mary as we have already tried countless numbers of products that were suposed to fix the problem with lil to no effect at all. At first after adding this ly it had no effect and to my dismay i brussed it off like the rest of the products i had use. But after giveing it about 3 weeks give or take i could see the cesspool finaly starting to drop. Was supper easy to use just poor it right in and let it do its thing. And consider the amount of money it just saved me id say dollar for dollar worth every penny

Cleared my septic tank
My septic system is from the 1950's and I tried everything to get if flowing again. I recalled that many years ago, my father used caustic soda to clear the biomass buildup on the drywall walls with success. According to my research, the treatment is best done when the tank is empty and the soda is applied directly to the walls. I was going out of town for the weekend, and decided to dump the entire can into the liquid tank. I didn't really think it would work, but when I checked this morning, all of the gray water was gone. Once the pH returns to normal, I'm going to apply enzymes to get the field going again. Do your research, as this approach is likely to only work on oil systems with a dry well.
