I pride myself on my knife sharpening abilities, having been trained by the Japanese Knife Company on one of their one-on-one training courses. I have three Japanese water stones and regularly sharpen my knives to almost new keenness.To that end I need to clamp the water stone firmly into a cradle that doesn’t slip about while I am stroking the blade along its surface. This device has blocks of rubber that both clamp the stone in place (with knurled wheels to tighten them) and grip the work surface so that everything stays in place.I would have preferred a Naniwa sink bridge but they’re hard to find here and are outrageously expensive when you do. This is a good quality compromise.

Does the job at a reasonable price.

Buy your stones unfixed to any plastic stands. I go for shapton ceramic stones. Splash and go. This holder is all you need to hold the shaptons. I personally have the 360: 1000: 2000 and the 4000 then I use a leather strop for a polished razor sharp finish.

Does what it says gives you a nice and stable platform for both, sharpening knives and flattening stones, and is easily adjustable. Be mindful though if your buying this to "fit" into your sink it's not the product your looking for you will need a shapening bridge for that, then you can use this to hold your stone on the bridge.

Great for holding shapton wetstone which is why I bought it.

Does what it is meant to but the production quality is not great. The black rubberised supports looked patchy and grey rather than black as shown in the photo, the 2 ends of support were not of the same length - 1 was 0.5cm shorter?

Holds the whetstone firmly in place on a work surface but it can only be used across a very small sink.
