Campfire Stories: Tales from America's National Parks

Campfire Stories is one in a million!
Campfire Stories is a wonderful book filled with moments great and small found in America’s treasure, our national parks. Here are stories concerning Acadia, Great Smoky Mountain, Rocky Mountain, Zion, Yosemite, and Yellowstone. Having visited Acadia many times as a boy, I relived the balsam and sea scented air of this wonderful location through this book. In addition, having recently hiked Half Dome a few years ago, he chapter on Yosemite resonated with me deeply. One of the features I love about this book is the “About this story” section found at the end of each tale. The information allows you to go further in depth concerning the storytellers of each section. This book by Dave and Ilyssa Kyu was obviously a labor of love, such a sentiment shines through on each page. This book is best enjoyed in quiet moments in my opinion and rewards the reader more with each further chapter. Highly recommended!

Handsome book
A handsome hardcover volume with an extensive collection of short stories, some in poem or song format. Glad to add it to my collection and would recommend to any lovers of stories and the outdoors.

Disappointed
These stories were a big disappointment. Not entertaining, and kind of “dumb” for sitting around a campfire.

Not for me
This book should be called, Boring Articles about National Parks. I was so excited to buy this; it's a beautifully designed hardcover book, and IF the stories were more in line with it's title, "Campfire Stories" would have been a home run. I guess I expected campfire stories to mean short stories about the nature, wildlife, weather, expeditions/camping experiences, and maybe some creepy or mystical tales as well. Instead, it's more a collection of articles about how the land came to be designated as national parks. There are a few interesting or entertaining reads, but most of the stories just bored the hell out of me. It was a great concept for a book, but the content was poorly curated.
