If it’s a factory recal
My ex bought this as a family gift, it was very good not out of this world but no more than 2 months the sound just stopped!! So now we’ve put it away hoping to find an Eli expensive repair place to see what happened, simular issues with this same model

Too much money for a simple basic TV/poor quality.
Should have been better for the money. The screen is bright but there are several negatives I have found. This has a Usb port but does not play videos or music. Only pictures. The speakers are what youd expect from a flat screen but they work. The menu, features and options are pretty basic with nothing special or unique. My biggest complaint is the response time. At 8.5 ms response time you can expect blurry movement, and I do. Very much so. Moving images via HDMI are extremely blurry. Theres just too much ghosting in this tv so expect headaches and eye strain if you have a game system hooked up. For 400 dollars, you should expect more features and better response speed.

Picture is great, sound good
Just bought this at walmart PRe-blackfriday sale, $115.00 WOW!!!! Picture is great, sound good, it's an 'older model' in that it takes a bit more power than the newer stuff(46 Watts), but has a lot of legacy features! s-dub(monitor) port, usb port for pictures(can't find video option yet if any), and REAL buttons to do basic stuff on the TV itself, not remote only'EDIT: Special thanks to Psythik's review... The 0000 Admin menu is GOLD.I am light sensitive, and don't like overly bright screens, so others may find these numbers too dim."Energy Saver mode" puts the Panel brightness at 70 (out of 100) power/brightness level. With admin menu I can lower the panel power to 20 and still find it perfectly acceptable at night(bumping up brightness/contrast), 30 works in the daytime. This lowers the power consumption to 20-25 Watts (vs 40-45 Watt in Energy Saver mode). So now I use this as a 40" Monitor connected to a Baytrail tablet(winbook TW700)(3-7 Watts) and consume about the same power as most laptops(under medium load). Deal at twice what I paid for it...

Terrible picture (edit: via HDMI, VGA is fine), but awesome blacks.
Bought this on a whim at Walmart for $268 to use as a computer monitor. Out of the box picture is terrible, but when you turn DLC off you get an acceptable image for the price. Unfortunately the color accuracy suffers, especially reds, which are more on the magenta side. Color banding is an issue as well, very obvious when looking at gradients. (edit: These problems can be fixed by using a VGA connection and doing some tweaking in the service menu. See edits below.)Response time is low enough that I feel confident playing twitch shooters like CS:GO on this TV, but the motion blur can be a bit distracting, especially in darker areas. Like all the other negatives, this is to be expected for the price. Thankfully I don't notice any input lag at all.My only other complaint is that the image is still too sharp even with Sharpness set to zero, but it's not bad enough to be distracting. Oh and there's two faint Xs visible in the middle of the picture when viewing content with lots of white (like most web pages). Lastly, the menu is very basic and doesn't have an option to adjust the backlight brightness. (edit: unless you go into the service menu)One area that this TV really shines in are the black levels. Even with the lights off you get near perfect black. It's almost as good as a good old fashioned plasma. This alone makes all the negatives almost worth it.Should you decide to buy this TV, one of the first things you'll want to do is set the Zoom Mode to "Just Scan", otherwise the TV will cut off the sides of the picture and make the image blurry. And like I said earlier, don't forget to turn the Sharpness WAY down. Everything else can be left at 50%. (edit: this only applies to HDMI. With a VGA connection everything should be left at 50%. See edit below for more info.)Overall, this TV's a steal if you can get it for under $275. Otherwise I'd look elsewhere. I may or may not return it and get a Vizio; I'll give it a chance for couple weeks before deciding.EDIT: Turns out that most of these problems were caused by the fact that this TV applies some post-processing to the HDMI inputs (that can't be turned off) in an attempt to make the image look more vivid than the TV is capable of producing. Thankfully the same processing isn't applied to the VGA input. After digging out the old VGA cable, reds still look a little magenta-ish (though not NEARLY as much), but the color banding and sharpness issues are eliminated. Response time is much improved as well. As a result, this TV earns an extra star. Now if only it had that backlight adjustment...EDIT 2: I figured out that if you hit Menu on the remote, then 0000, this'll open the Service Menu, which will allow you to fine-tune the gain and offset of the three primary colors (but sadly not the hue!), allowing you to get even more accurate colors out of this TV. There is even a backlight option in this hidden menu! Why this setting isn't available in the user menu is beyond me but at least it's there. I wouldn't recommend messing with any other options, however, because you can ruin your TV if you aren't a certified expert.

poor video quality - cheap panel
When the 42" cheap brand competitor next to this set had better color accuracy and more shadow detail, I knew this set was not worth the expense. Most stores set up TVs with out of box settings since it costs more to actually calibrate them. Even after calibration, problems inherent in the picture panel cannot be entirely alleviated. The set is probably good for casual viewing, but isn't the point of a television to have some standard of quality, and not look pale and dull next to every other set in the store - especially the other "value" brands?

Didn't even buy this on Amazon
Was a steal at a pawn shop for $50. Used it as a monitor for the last two years. Anthem looked Absolutely Beautiful. The Division 2 is absolutely stunning.Watching "TV" does not get the "soap opera" effect when watching HD programming. Though the response time is not that of higher end Monitors and TV, It still produces an acceptable 1080p image. If you're the type who is picky about having low ms and high color range and this that and the other feature, move along. this is a TV, not some mantle piece for your incel mancave. After 2 years and heavy use, its showing it's age. Burn in is noticeable but, I guess that's what you get when you buy an LED TV and use it for a gaming monitor. Definitely contributed to the decay of my eyes. 10/10 would consider using a 40" TV for a gaming monitor again...
