I don't know why I was under the impression that this book was going to give you recipes for make up made from natural ingredients . I guess the title says it all, HOW TO MAKE PURE MINERAL MAKE UP. There are not any plant based make up recipes. Or many natural ingredients. The author even recommends purchasing lab created minerals and products to make her recipes (which she explains is because they are more "pure" than earthen material). All of the recipes are for loose powder made from colored micas, iron oxides, ultramarines, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide etc. She does explains how to press powders, but then says all of her recipes are meant to be kept loose!?!? If you want to make bright colors of eyeshadow, I wouldn't recommend this book. If you want to make natural shades, well, all of the colors are earthy(which are lovely). For someone looking to make powders from minerals like mica, iron oxides, etc, you might like the book. I'm returning it. I want to make plant based make up from natural ingredients, or at least natural ingredients that aren't created in a lab. I already wear mineral make up and it is not worth it for me to have to buy all the minerals to make it and the time. I'm returning this book because I was looking for a much more natural option. I'm working on formulating a powder with a base of arrowroot, rice powder, etc. and I'm hoping to find a book that has recipes using clays, herbs, flowers, spices, dried fruits, etc for coloring. I've been experimenting a bit on my own, and would like a few tried and true recipes that I haven't already found on the internet. If you're looking for a book to direct you on creating make up with lab created minerals, this book may be for you. The book is plentiful in that subject, very organized, and nice photographs , just not for me.

This saved me hours and hours of research. Though my goal is to create a makeup line (for myself) that is as natural as possible, all of the ingredients and information she's included in this book provide the base I need. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in the art of creating makeup.

Definitely a great source of how to mix color and additives. Has color theory as well as variations for an array of uses. Wonderful techniques.

Beautiful photographs and helpful information in addition to the recipes. I appreciate the modern take on making makeup and the natural focus of the recipes. A book I'm really enjoying studying.

I am very visual. This book is EVERYTHING. My most favorite when it comes to making make up. Pictures of ingredients, and completed products. Very informative. I loved this book!!! Very easy to follow.

Her work is meticulous, with serious attention to detail, she uses slightly different techniques and ingredients from other writers in the field.Heather Anderson is an industry professional; having worked as both manufacturer and makeup artist, she brings unique insight to the fore, from knowledge of ingredients to application and colour theory.If you are serious about learning to make your own mineral makeup, this is a great book to buy for your library. Lots of important information in book, would recommend.

A beautifully created book with colour photos to guide you. Perfect for the novice which I was. The majority of ingredients including micas and oxides, despite what another review has said are naturally occurring minerals which have skin benefits. I have already made my day to day foundation, bronzer and about 8 eyeshadows. There are tips on problem solving, suggestions for application and photographs of models wearing the makeup colours. Would love to see another book!

This book is for a more proffesional make up, for home making is hard to find some of the products. It uses one base with different combinations of colors.

Love this book. Ingredients are easy to source, simple and in keeping with my organic approach to make up. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to make their own custom chemical free makeup.
