Hobart770031 400-Amp T-Style Ground Clamp Brass

I replaced a stamped steel with copper teeth ground clamp on my stick welder with this. The clamp force on this is strong and the connection is easy enough to setup. I just wish it had a bolt to use an existing terminal lug so I didn't have to cut my cable. Also the metal loop to hold the cable is cheesy, I used a hose clamp instead, I imagine a zip tie would work even better so you don't risk cutting yourself on the hose clamps strap. It's a great ground clamp!

I got this specifically to hold items that I needed to put a torch on, but needed maneuverability to get at it from different angles, and it worked fantastically! The clamp itself was nice and tight without being overly difficult to open, and it held the items very securely, which is always a concern when you're working with red hot components. But it more than did the trick, and I was even able to hold the clamp the whole time without needing gloves, so the heat transfer was very minimal. Pretty impressed with the whole thing and would use again for certain. Especially for my specific need for the item. Would recommend!

This is a very heavy-duty ground clamp, much better quality than normally ships with most welding units. The grounding cable fastens very securely to this clamp. Because this clamp is solid brass, it won't deal well with high heat locations, and could be damaged or melt if placed too close to the arc.

Seems to be good quality

Original clamp was junk and bent out of shape after burning only 2 lb of rod. This thing is massive and solid cast metal. Spring is very strong an it hols on well enough to act like a clamp to position the workpiece. Can be a little bulky on small parts unless you have a metal welding table to clamp to. Tapered tips let you slide it inside pipe or tubing I have above average “farmer” hand strength—I can see that folks with lesser hand strength having trouble squeezing it openElectrical connection is very solid. I couldnt figure out how to completely tighten (bend) the strain relief metal band, but I’ll work on it. May replace it with a hose clamp. It hinges on a hollow copper rivet that could possibly wear out, but probably not in my lifertime

Stock ground clamp melted. This o e works good, holds well and hasn't melted yet.

I bought this to REPLACE the HF version of this grounding clamp, and it has made a world of difference. This clamp is SOLID BRASS while the HF is copper alloy, and there is no mention on the HF site as to what their copper alloy clamp is alloyed with. The bottom line is that this solid brass clamp made for Hobart outperforms the HF clamp head and shoulders. I was having a very hard time starting TIG arcs with the HF clamp, but since replacing the HF clamp with this solid brass Hobart clamp, my arcs have started every single time.

Smaller welders,even the better quality ones,usually need an upgraded ground clamp.This clamp is solid brass,better than the grounds with just a strip of copper wiring between the jaws.It delivers good grounding and its very durable.The spring is strong, high pressure.I put one on my Hobart stickmate LX, a good machine but stock clamp was junk.This is the style you want for an upgrade, you`ll find these on bigger and better machines.

On a cheap flux core welder, get better flux wire and definitely better ground clamp
