What Happens When Women Walk in Faith: Trusting God Takes You to Amazing Places

Has God given you a dream or desire to be more for Him or be used by Him in ministry, yet, it just doesn't seem to be happening? I know I've been there. Actually, I spent a lot of years there, and it has only been recently that God started moving on my desire. Oh, how I wish I would have read this book sooner.Lysa TerKeurst's "What Happens When Women Walk in Faith" is a book about following your God-given dreams, yet it is about so much more. In her book, Lysa equips us with the encouragement and knowledge to "keep on keeping on" when life's disappointments and distractions try to come between us and God's plan for our lives. The whole premise of the book is that God gives us dreams tailored for our own talents and His purposes. But just like the Israelites, we must grow and overcome giants to get to our promised lands. The bad news is that there is no short cut (just grow quickly) to the grand prize; however, the good news is the best part of the whole process is the process. The process is where we dig down deep and not only grow, but develop strong relationships with God. God is our grand prize, not the fulfillment of our dreams.Well, if only it were that easy. Lysa knows the real task is enduring the process and not letting Satan steal us from our calling, thus the "5 Phases of Faith". Lysa's 5 Phases of Faith came out of common phases she found in Bible stories of people who stepped out in faith, such as the stories of Abraham, Moses, and Joshua. It consists of the following phases:"Leaving-In order to go to a new level with God, you've got to leave the old behind;Famine-In this new place, you'll realize your comfort zone is gone, and you'll learn to depend on God like never before;Believing-You've always wanted to really believe God, but now your experience of Him becomes too real to deny;Death: Coming to the end of your ability to make things happen seems like death to you, but to God, this is the only way to new life with Him.Resurrection: In a way only he could, God makes your dream come true. Only then do you understand that real joy isn't in the dream itself but rather in the richer faith you acquired along the way." (pg. 10)Lysa's own ministry began with a dream, but it didn't just go from dream to reality. No, she also had to go through the 5 phases in order to become the woman, writer, speaker, teacher, business woman she is today. This is what I like best about Lysa; she is not shy about sharing her experiences, even her dirty laundry, in order to lead others into a stronger relationship with Christ. I also like how she gets us to look at the same Bible stories we have read time and time again with new eyes. I will never look at the stories of Abraham, Moses, and Joshua the same again, and I bet you won't either after reading this book.I definitely think this is a must read for all Christian women. I just can't say enough good things. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. I would like to leave you with my favorite lines in the whole book,"God is good. He is way more interested in developing our characters to match our calling than manipulating our circumstances to make us happy." (pg.149)

It's an easy read and I enjoyed reading it.

I originally purchased this book to do as a group bible study. Because of a scheduling conflict, I was unable to go. Decided to ready on my own. So glad I did! What a great bible study!I love reading Lysa Terkeurst book. If you are looking for a book to help you grow and develop your faith in God this is your book!

A must read for all women

I read this on a personal retreat and found it engaging and biblically sound.

She's got good stories about her life struggles and how she overcame them. Very inspirational book to read and a personal bible study to do after each chapter. One thing that to me it didn't sit right with me personally were some quotes from a few multimillionaire prosperity preachers I have a hard with their lifestyle and doctrines, but otherwise good book for women. Filled with scriptures!

I am on a faith journey and looking for help in walking with bold faith. I bought this book to help me in learning about God’s Word as it relates to faith. I’m just 8 chapters in and I read just one chapter a day. This is exactly what I need. This is a great bible self-study. Grab a small notebook to take notes. I’m very happy I purchased this book and grateful that Lysa Terkeurst decided to write this. You will not be disappointed.

As with all of Lysa’s books, easy to read and great information for spiritual growth. I love how the chapters each had additional thought provoking questions with scripture references to push you deeper. Highly recommended!

Worth to read it.must buy it

I initially stumbled upon Lysa's Ministry, Proverbs 31 Ministries, while doing an internet search for "the proverbs 31 wife." There I found a massive archive of Daily Devotionals, links to the blogs of Christian Women, and a fantastic understanding of what the Proverbs 31 wife truly is. I soon discovered that Lysa, president of Proverbs 31 Ministries, had quite a few books in her name! Immediately, I went to my local bookstore and picked up a copy of Made to Crave, one of two titles they carried. I immediately did an Amazon search upon reading Made to Crave, and happened upon this gem. I was looking for a bible study centered around Faith. I had so many questions in my mind surrounding Faith, and especially Faith within the Christian community. I often say that God brought me to this book, and that I have grown so much in my Faith since reading it. This is the only Bible Study book that I literally CANNOT PUT DOWN! I would rush to my kindle on my lunch break, my productivity breaks, and even during a long car ride! I recently purchased a paperback version as a gift for a fellow Christian woman who needs to walk in Faith. I am working my way through all of Lysa's titles, and I strongly recommend that you start right here.

Often when i buy this kind of book it doesnt work out because the God the author is preaching to me about is nothing like the God i know, who lives in my heart. However, i can honestly say this is an amazing book which i truly feel led to. Lysa is a truly Godly humble lady who says it like it is, wont try to belittle you with "superior holiness" and who i feel genuinely cares whether this book helps and guides you or not. I WILL live my dream and thank you Lysa for your words of encouragement and hope.Wish there was more people like this in ministry.
