Pure Jongo T4X Wireless Speaker with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth - Ice

Just purchased two of these as a stereo pair despite the previous model (the T4) being widely criticised for poor sound quality. I was hoping this might have been remedied in the T4X and 2.2 software update but unfortunately the new model is no better. Mid-range frequencies are hard to hear and low frequency response is pretty poor considering their relatively large size. Tweaking the bass and treble options in the Pure Connect software makes things even worse, coming at the expense of even less mid-range response. Things get so bad that the vocal track becomes completely inaudible at higher bass/treble settings. Not really sure where Pure went wrong with this. The combination of WIFI and Bluetooth plus stereo pairing should be a winning formula, but the sound is so poor that it really ruins the experience. I don't think I have unreasonable expectations - I own a Pure Evoke Flow and Bose sound dock which both sound much better than the T4X. The lack of support for lossless formats such as FLAC is a further disappointment given that this is quite an expensive product.UPDATE:After struggling with this product for a few days I finally returned it. I could probably have lived with the poor sound quality, but unfortunately it wasn't the only problem of the Jongo T4X. Despite being synchronised as a stereo pair, often turning the speakers on or off through the IOS app would only result in one of the two speakers turning on or off. On several occasions the balance would be set as full left or full right on startup for no obvious reason, or one of the speakers would be invisible to the app. Either way the result was the same - all music could only be heard out of one speaker. Had to re-pair the speakers once as well as. I understand that this is significantly cheaper than the equivalent Sonos product, but so many problems in just a couple of days is a real concern. For me it is just unacceptable.

We bought two of these for a large kitchen diner and have been very impressed. Easy setup, they updated themselves once connected to our wifi, and can be run both by I phone and android phone, also via Bluetooth. Internet radio is great, the signal is stronger than our DAB radio in the same room and is completely steady. The station carries on playing even when the phone that has connected them goes out of range. I can play all my I-cloud music via iPhone through the wifi too. The two speakers synced easily to be a stereo pair. So now we have bought both a T2 and S3 for upstairs and they also work together and separately beautifully. So pleased!

Really pleased with this just using the one, sound quality seems good to me and feels like a well made bit of kit

PURE have an ongoing issue with all their wireless speakers and their inability to work with BT Home Hub routers. Their support site first went public with this in Dec 2014 and nearly a year on it has still not been fixed and they advise they have no idea when it will be resolved. Even if you don't have a BT Home Hub router you may wish to avoid a company who has such a cavalier approach to supporting their customers and products....

As far as sound, there's some good depth and projection around a room, with the in-app abilities to adjust treble and bass as is common with most. However, there are better sounding speakers available. With the wrong song it sounds like a radio being played with a t-shirt over it; with the right song, it sounds too subwoofer - too many deep tones, and lacks that crispness and clarity.The design is good, a little on the large side at 20x14x17 cm, but sleek and matching to most light coloured decor. The white plastic looks great against the cold grey of the front, the connection ports around the back are well hidden, and the volume buttons are easily accessible.The app is easy to use and has a nice interface; linking up the speaker to wifi and other speakers is really simple, and overall the usability is near faultless. What you see is what you get in the box; just the speaker and some instructions - so if, like me, you're a little old school, it's all controlled via a phone, tablet or computer, and there's no controller available.

Bought two of these at the discounted price to stereo pair. Firstly, if I had paid the original price each I would have been hugely disappointed in their performance. Sound is very muddy and just not at all great - even on discount I'm a little disappointed but can be a little more accepting at that price point.Now, the stereo pairing, really seeems to be hit and miss depending on what device you are streaming from. They seemed to either forget that they were stereo paired or take a while to realise they were stereo paired - unfortunately not fir for purpose as you seemed to have to do an inordinate amount of fiddling around to get them to work together. In the end I sent one of the two speakers back for a refund as the sterep pairing was just not working well.Worth mentioning the now discontinued Pure Connect App is terrible and basically doesn't really function fully and essentially this speaker is only really good for Bluetooth streaming from your phone / tablet which limits the quality of the stream and also will reflect any notifications you receive (emails / texts) while listening. Set up was a bit of a faff - not hopeless if you're technically savvy but for your average Joe more complicated and fiddly than it need be.In summary, if you want a mains connected Bluetooth speaker then at the discounted price it could work for you but don't imagine you can use this in any meaningful way as a multi-room set-up.

Item was priced great, this was an upgrade of my jongo T2..item arrived within no time at all, cant fault the seller or the item.

Der Klang dieses Teiles ist seinem hohen Preis nicht angemessen - es mangelt an Bässen und Mitten. Habe zum Vergleich ein Evoke C-F6 (2x10 W) - das klingt weitaus besser!

It is our second Pure Jongo T4. We now have stereo. Conects easily using the app or music stored on our network.
