... a piano teacher of 20+ years and I have enjoyed getting to use this book with my students
I am a piano teacher of 20+ years and I have enjoyed getting to use this book with my students. The first thing that is really important to understand is that this is NOT a lesson book or a music book. This is meant to supplement other books, other lessons. (They also offer a lesson book that has video lessons to go along with it as well.) Here are some of the things that i like about this book:1. When I am teaching scales and other techniques to my students it often seems like all the instructions I gave them disappeared from their mind. With this book there is a secondary reinforcement once I have left the building. If they cannot remember what we talked about they can look at the lessons.2. Sometimes hearing different concepts explained multiple different ways helps it to sink in.3. It reinforces some of the harder concepts of music theory that they don't always get or understand right away.4. I love the improv sections. It is a fun way to add improv to my lessons with my students and although I cannot bring an entire band with me, this gives me the next best thing.Things I would love to see changed/improved:1. Right now the videos take you to YouTube. I envision a time when they will be able to play right in the book and what is already a strong book will be even more improved.2. I would love to see more improv lessons with a little more explanation for those who are going it alone.

This book is organized in a way to help you ...
This book is organized in a way to help you progress very well. Since I've been playing piano for a long time (as an intermediate level), I didn't have to start from the beginning. I started on lesson 49 to review the scales and the basics chords. While skimming through the book, I saw a bunch of interesting things in it, such as arpeggios in some other chords and arpeggios that you use in jazz. I can't wait to practice those chords, but I'm trying not to hurry so I can master everything.

Piano Scales, etc.
This book clearly is put together with beginners in mind. The two octaves scales don't even begin until Lesson 46. From there on, however, the book fully lives up to its title, showing major, minor and melodic minor scales for one and two octaves, and corresponding chords (with inversions) and arpeggios. It finishes with modes, chromatic scales, and a brief presentation of augmented and diminished chords.I am a violinist who received a piano as a birthday gift and thought, why not? I've always been a bit envious of pianists' ability to sight read seemingly complicated pieces of music. Why not take the rather obvious suggestion and begin piano studies, too?I'm glad I did. And this book certainly was helpful in relating scales and chords to the piano keyboard. The best part: the last page of the book shows a cat! A nice surprise 🐱

Great costumer service
Great costumer service! The seller said she would send me a cd with lessons as a gift since I wrote him that my kids were debutant. The cd is actually great It helped them a lot to learn with the book. It was nicely packed and arrived on time. This looks as if it might be just for beginners, but it has sections that even more advanced pianists and keyboard players can use. I am a pianist at the high intermediate level, and I found much here that is useful: finger exercise (we all need them), basic theory (which I never got in my lessons) and a glossary of terms. I also play keyboard, and there is excellent material for that instrument. I would recommend this for anyone's personal library and especially for music teachers or parents that want to teach their kids like me.

Nice diagrams and pictures
I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano. This book not only teaches basic notes and scales but technique as well. It has nice diagrams and pictures to make learning much easier. It is very simple and has a nice step by step approach to teaching. I like that it has YouTube videos to accompany the book. It's great for the visual learner!

Friendly, Entertaining, and Informational Book
This Piano Scales Book is Friendly, starting from the Basics all the way up to Advance. They go from Finger positions, motions, postures, to Music Theory and different types of Clef to make anyone who is willing to learn Piano Highly easy to do so. If you want to jump right into the fray of Piano playing and techniques, this will help you start where you need to be at. With each Lesson having its own video and friendly instructions, it makes even me who has trouble with the finger positions along with each key strokes, has lead to me being able to play my favorite songs without must trouble. Which I am still going through the book myself, I can at least play a few scores from Harry Potter without much trouble. The Videos they've presented with each lesson is pleasant and capturing to the eyes, with a smoothing voice behind each lesson, that leads to no drowning and boredom that most people feel during a classroom. With Damon showing us how each lesson is meant to be, its very easy to stay on track and keep on track. Each Lesson shows where the finger positions should be located, what the lesson will be concentrated on and a video below so everyone can not only see, plus hear what each lessons means but they get a way of how playing the piano should be. Once you start going through each lesson, they have you start from Level 1, to Level 5 which means your basically able to start your own style of piano after level 5 Advance Piano techniques. I'm currently on level 2 which I start with multiple major cords and scales, it keeps on advancing as you go throughout the book. Take your time with each lesson till you basically can do it with your eyes close then continue to the next level. With a book both entertaining and informational it will only take a short time to fully learn the Piano.

Fun and useful
I've been playing piano on and off for some time now, that is, until I moved out of the states. I got this book to help me remember certain movements that my hands had forgotten and to be able to read music again. What a difference it made! It's clearly written, easy and utterly thorough. Although I have a background in piano, I can see how this would be useful for a beginning without a teacher -- it explain everything you need to know! Basically, if you want to learn music theory and technique along with enjoying your instrument, get his book. FYI this is not a songbook. This book is so much more than that: it teaches you properly. From hand lesson and finger numbers, clear lessons on scales to circle of fifths and melodic minors this book makes takes the essence of what is needed to be a pianist.

Clear, Comprehensive and Encouraging
Well written and laid out and makes for easy understanding and encouragement for this re-beginner. I think this is suitable for adult and child. I am getting to know the notes and the relationships (scales and chords) inside out - on the keyboard and on the page. I am increasingly ready for my next step and playing music from the treble and bass clef.

Well worth getting!
Good book. Well set out with an exercise per page and quite large print too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the way it's bound.... Spiral bound would be so much better as it would sit on a music stand and stay open on the page you want it to.

The text and diagrams are large and clear so making it easy to read whilst at the keyboard
I'm still working my way through the lessons in this book but so far they have been very clear and informative. The text and diagrams are large and clear so making it easy to read whilst at the keyboard. The videos are actually just YouTube links and, although good, there are plenty of other YouTube videos out there to choose from.
