Live Tailstock Chuck Adapter, 1" x 8 TPI, 2MT, for Wood Lathe

This is a really handy adapter to have and I keep finding uses for it now that it's on the chuck shelf. My main use is for turning salt/pepper mills for which I want the lines to flow smoothly from the base to the rotating top. I turned two tenons to fit the inner bore of the mill. One tenon goes in the driving chuck and the other in another chuck attached to this adapter. This makes it very easy to turn the mill as if it were one piece.

I use it for mounting a jumbo chuck in tailstock to align critical rings for segmented glue up. My bowl bases are glued to a faceplate and this is just a way to align higher levels held in the jumbo jaws without a lot of fuss. Get them lined up and hot glue some temporary positioning blocks and then put them in the press.

With this device and two chucks you can grip a project like never before. I demonstrated the device to my wife by parting off a 6" x 24" diameter log in two and both halves remained fixed in their respective chucks. The tailstock end just gently slowed down.

Perfect for attaching a chuck or faceplate to the tail stock. I also use it with my cole jaws to center the next ring for glue up to rings previously affixed to the head stock faceplate/chuck.

Well, if you do not have one of these you are definitely missing out! Though I would not call it a tailstock "chuck". It is a tailstock arbor with a 1-8 TPI.
