Avigal Henna 100% Natural Hair Color BLACK Intense Ebony 4 Oz.

Well, first I chose henna dye because like a lot of people, after years of dying my hair, I've suddenly found myself allergic to the chemicals.I have dark brown/black hair and don't look to change it to some dramatic color, just want to keep the gray away. Directions for how to use the product are in the can - careful opening it because the powder will poof out.Please be aware that this process will get messy - I recommend having someone help....and maybe a drop cloth :)In the directions it states to mix the powder with either conditioner or olive oil, I used conditioner, I figured the oil would hinder the dye from applying itself to my hair. Then you mix in hot water gradually until you create a paste. The smell isn't overwhelming but it doesn't smell that great. I might actually prefer the smell of the chemicals from other dyes. It smells...like overboiled leafy greens with acrid tea? Best way to describe it I guess. Anywho, the paste doesn't necessarily want to stick to your hair so it falls out, this is where the drop cloth would come in. It's easy to clean off a tile floor but its kind of a hassle. You can't really tackle your hair the way you would with a regular chemical dye because of the consistancy, you kind of just kinda plaster it on lol I was getting kind of frustrated so I added more water, thinned it out a bit and literally kind of just pored it over my head. Then you place a plastic bag or shower cap over your head. The directions give you the wait time. I left it in for about an hour and a half. I used a plastic bag and needed a little towel handy. Because heat escapes through your head, when you have it covered, you create moisture so I had little beads of sweat escaping the plastic bag. You will need to rinse, rinse, rinse and rinse some more. The product kind of flakes. I rinsed my hair, then washed it and went to apply conditioner, ran my fingers through my hair and had the flakes. A LOT of rinsing is going to be required. I would recommend a deep conditioner right after because my hair felt a little dry. But, my hair is black! I see no gray!! It worked and only after the one application. I like the results.

I followed the directions in the package (hot water, henna, and some olive oil)...I let it stay 2 hrs and then rinsed with some conditioner. With my long hair, the application was a mess! The mixture came apart easily and fell everywhere - sink, counter, and floor! A little got on my hand, which discolored the area. I was disappointed with the coverage on the gray hair and had to apply the henna again in the area I have the most grays (20 -25% gray). The second application was more successful. Perhaps, I will try the other reviewer's recommendation next time. This product did take the redish color out of my hair and it made it look healthy and shiny. I would rate this product 3 1/2 stars!

First, I love natural products. But it didn't cover my gray hair at all. I will keep using this henna( I can't returun them) but I have to do every ather week I guess.So my hair is very thick , hard hair. I want to use only cover of my hair roots top pf my head area. I had stay 2hours which I thought enough to cover such a small area. But it did n't work, my roots get dark green cooler,,,,.How embarrassed to go out public. I will try some reviewer idea that I hope work for me.Smell was good - green, leafy smellNo chemical at all.

I bought this product , and it came in an aluminium bag, not in the can that is on the picture to advertise the product for sale. Again, something has changed with this product. I've been buying avigal henna for years and never thought that will change into a not useful product. Your hair will turn blue or kind purplish color, no black.

This is an excellent product. I have mixed gray hair that is hard to cover. on my second application I added lemon juice, salt, hair conditioner to hot black tea and mixed with the Henna powder and applied to hair. I wrapped in plastic with a heat cap for 3 hours and all of the gray was gone for perfect black hair. It took a little research, but it all paid off.

After using the product, my grey's had turned orange, not black as claimed here. But the name is Black Intense Ebony! Not sure if there is a separate process to follow?
