This external battery pack works as well as to be expected. I fully charged it before using it on a camping trip and it kept our phones powered up throughout the weekend and it still had about half charge by the time we left the campground. When we got back home, I set it in a sunny window expecting that the battery pack would be fully charged for the next camping trip. Good thing I checked it the night before we left because it was completely drained. It had to be plugged in to charge and use again. It is not clear if the solar panel even maintains the charge. In my experience the only way to charge and maintain is to plug it in which is not easy to do when you are camping without power.

The charger arrived just in time as a Christmas gift for my favorite uncle who loves hiking and fishing. Now he has enough juice to charge his phone 8 times over, and can keep his devices alive as long as he's under the sun (he is a whole lot). He loves its rugged build and heft, and a built in LED light for convenience. At a pound i can see how this solar charger is not for everyone, but it makes a fantastic gift for those who love the great outdoors. I'm glad I found this gift in time; it's pretty much built for him.

The good part is that this charger works. The bad part is that it's HUGE! I purchased this charger to take on a camping trip and to Europe and was shocked by how big and heavy it was. I did use it for the camping trip, but I think I'll skip it and buy a smaller one for Europe because it's so heavy and I don't want to add weight and bulk to my luggage.

Though we used our mobile phones only as cameras (no reception at BM!!) this power unit charged 3 iphones over 5 days and did not budge. We never had to try to charge it from the sun. Good dust resistance (a must in a desert setting).

I really needed this charger during Hurricane Florence. I will be using it for work instead and future storms. The charger appears to be very well constructed. It took several hours to initially charge. The only grip I have is...the instruction manual is so small you have to use a magnifying glass to see the small print. So far so good. I have only had it for a few days so I may have to revise my opinion later.

I got this back in feb this year I did changed it wnen I got it it work ok till I went on vac this summer the solor pack did not hold or charge till this day it still not charging on the solor pack I like to return this get another one I went to returns looks like I cant return this mmmm

Use this product to charge phones/Kindles. Does a solid job and holds a charge for quite some time.

Was delivered on time. Worked great for a week. I placed it outside all day and still wouldn’t charge with solar. I’m gonna try again but not hopeful. It’s just a giant portable charger now.
