Pretty nice controller for fans of early '90s games
I'd been putting off buying one of these for a while, but the N64-esque translucent green plus hall effect joysticks were enough for me to finally pull the trigger. It helped that I had gift card money and the tariffs scared me into grabbing this before it was too late, too. I realized I'd be unhappy never getting one if it came down to that. Connecting was simpler than expected and the instructions to switch from d-input to x-input are written on the back of the controller itself, which is very neat. X-input is better for Steam/PC and proper haptic feedback, but is limited to only four (4) controllers total, with the controller's assignment number lit up in green on the bottom of the controller like you'd expect from a modern Xbox or PlayStation controller. The buttons certainly feel like SNES buttons, though the four action buttons actually feel more solid and springier which is really, really nice. I never quite liked the feeling of a worn SNES controller's action buttons feeling thin and relatively action-less, so be prepared for a surprise there if you can relate with the worn feeling. The d-pad feels *exactly* the same as an SNES pad to me, so much so that I don't really even notice it, so props to 8BitDo on that. Most d-pads on modern controllers feel really awkward, like they're made only for menu selections, so it's a nice surprise to not have worries about the d-pad in the back of my mind while I'm trying to game. In some ways, this controller just disappears as you play, and I think that's a good thing if it's allowing you to immerse into the game itself instead of worrying about a controller being finicky. The only real surprise are the four L/R buttons, which really shouldn't be pressed with four fingers like you can on a larger controller. Here, the top ones stick out like you'd expect from an SNES controller, and the lower ones are really just there for compatibility more than anything. They are not pressure sensitive like GameCube and others, so that's something to be aware of, but they can read as a binary axis or as normal buttons depending on the connection mode you've set. I suspect for the few games where that could be a bummer there's some way you could set up a time delay in Steam to make it playable still perhaps. But GameCube and up really aren't the focus of this controller anyway. Anything from the '90s should be perfectly playable with this, with the joysticks perfectly positioned to make PlayStation fans feel at home as well. I'm pretty happy with the controller overall. It combines the compatibility of an Xbox controller with the nostalgia of the SNES layout, with a little PlayStation aesthetic mixed in for good measure. If you're looking for a licensed game to test this out with, I'm enjoying Axiom Verge paired with this controller.

This is basically a name brand controller, if not better.
Ok, so this is a day 1 review, but thats also part of it... TL;DR version: Well made, performs on par or better than "OEM" or name brand controllers; just buy it, 100% worth it. See pic with origional PS2 controller for size comparison 1) Shipping: i ordered this yesterday Dec. 7th 2023. It arrived Dec.8th 2023. Thats amazing and automatically gave it 3 stars. 2) Feel: This feels like a premium, "name brand" controller. The plastic casing feels sturdy and well made yet somehow retaining that good ol' nostalgic feel of the old controlers/cases us late 80s earyl 90s kids remember very well. All the buttons feel amazing; d-pad, ABXY, start/select, Ls/Rs, even the joysticks are nice and crisp. Virtually no button rattle either which to me never matters as lokg as it performs perfect but i know some people HATE button rattle and i personally cant hear any. The size is perfect, at least for me and i have around medium sized hands. Feels right in the hands. 3) Performance: So far im writting this review about 30min after delivery so i cant speak much there yet but i have tried it on my phone via bluetooth with some old PS1 games and theres virtually no detectable lag/latency between the controller and the game, you press the button the action happens. For comparison I recently modded my phat model PS2 to use a HDD and it has input lag, this seemingly doesnt from what i can tell. Havent used it anywhere else yet as i havemt setup anything else as i primarly wanted this to use with emulators. Cant yet speak on battery life but will update review after ive used it more If anythinf changes i will update my review as needed or after ive had the controller a little bit longer but initial impressions are so good im likely going to buy both the green version and OG version as well. If they made one in a clear blue id buy it day 1 without hesitation.

Great controller
Bought this to use for switch games with more simplified controls, and started with a top down Zelda game. Works very well and is comfortable enough for decent gaming sessions. I typically play for an hour or so a night and get no hand fatigue. Size is about the same size as a SNES controller. Will not turn on/off the switch. Came with 2 stick covers that I didnt plan to use, but the sticks by themselves seem a little slick. Battery has held up great so far. Out of the box I got around 8 hours before I decided to plug it in to charge. Color reminds you of the 90s!

Good for travel gaming and retro gaming
Solid little thing. Does what it needs to and looks great doing it. Bluetooth connection can be troublesome when switching devices but once its connected it does the trick. Maybe a little small for those with bigger hands, though. Solid value for the price

Wspaniały kontroler, u mnie pracuje z Raspberry Pi 5 oraz Recalboxem, bezproblemowa współpraca, do tego ładny, funkcjonalny wygląd. Polecam!

Best retro controller out there. I've got a couple of them. Buttons click nice, works great, thumbsticks seem an extra + for the money, and they last. Have had them for years now without one failing.
