This has definitely encouraged me to vote with my dollars!
I primarily make my own beauty, cosmetic, and cleaning products. For the past 2 years I have been “no-poo,” using baking soda and ACV to wash my hair in an effort to eliminate as many environmentally harmful chemicals from my daily use as possible and live a more low-waste lifestyle. This method worked, but I began to notice over the past few months that my hair was frizzy and rough textured on the ends when dried, and it was seriously lacking moisture. I live in GA where humidity is a way of life, and my hair would constantly need to be restraightened just walking in to my office from the parking lot as it soaked up the moisture in the air like a dehydrated man in the desert. Finally, I noticed breakage and decided that no-poo wasn’t working and so I set out to find a shampoo and conditioner that would work for my fine/oily hair, was cruelty free, environmentally safe, and as low-waste as possible. In my search I came across Plaine Products. Many of the low/zero wasters I follow had mentioned this company, but I was skeptical. I was also hesitant due to the emissions used in shipping and returning the packages, but as my local recycling is not processed locally and is shipped to another city; I reasoned that this was about equal in impact. I decided to try it anyway as I appreciated that the formulas were dye free, biodegradable, scented with essential oils, and scored a 0 on the Think Dirty app.The package arrived quickly, and with no single use plastic in site, rare for Amazon. The first thing I did was smell it. It was a lovely scent, I got hints of rosemary with mint being the predominate scent, and only a touch of vanilla on the back end. I made sure the pumps worked, and set them up ready to use that night. The shampoo has no SLS so there are minimal suds, which I don’t miss since I was no-poo for so long and I greatly appreciate the absense of those chemicals. The conditioner is creamy and washes out beautifully. My hair dried quickly, in fact I almost didn’t get to it with a blow-dryer in time. My previously crunchy ends were soft and laid down since they were appropriately moisturized, and there was a faint scent left behind in my hair that I found pleasant. The best part however, was how soft my hair was. I found myself just running my hands through my hair over the entire day, amazed at how soft it was.I went to work and noticed that my hair wasn’t sucking in the moisture outside like it usually did, I didn’t have to break out my “work straightener” after coming in from my car. After one wash I was hooked, but still concerned that this was a one-off. So I kept repeating the cycle of washing my hair (every 3 days - while using dry shampoo in between hair washes) and noticed that my hair stayed oil free longer and all the things I loved after the first wash were still holding true. The final proof was when it rained. I forgot my umbrella and had to walk to my car in the rain from work, once my hair air dried it was still straight, it had not “triangled” out like it had before.I purchased this product with my own money, no compensation was offered to me and I am leaving this review because I am honestly impressed. I will continue to use this product, and I hope my initial impressions continue to hold true. If so, then this shampoo and conditioner are honestly the best that I have ever purchased; even prior to when I was no-poo.They are a bit expensive, but they are effective products made by an ethical and environmentally conscious company. I plan to repurchase from Plaine Products when I run out, and return my current bottles for reuse and recycling. Excellent product, and excellent business practices have definitely encouraged me to vote with my dollars. I highly recommend this product to those with similar hair types (oily/fine with almost everyday heat tool use and no hair coloring), it cannot speak for those with other hair types.

Great smell
Love the smell. Conditioner leaves hair a bit oily,, so don't use at hair roots.

i love the clean ingredients, but it made my hair feel really gross like when hard water is used. It was hard to detangle

Wow . . . Exactly what I've been looking for!
So I began this year with a serious commitment to reduce my personal use of single use plastic. So I turned first to Shampoo and conditioner bars. Hated them. Hard to use on my long, thick wavy hair and made my hair texture feel like straw. If you don't want to go the bar route, there is so little out there for good haircare without the plastic. I thought about it a long time due to the price. But back when I was a single girl I used to pay similar prices for Aveda Salon products because I liked that they used mostly natural ingredients. The Aveda products are all very heavily scented and I married a wonderful guy years ago with asthma and aveda products literally cause his airways to tighten up. So Aveda and I broke up, but I missed their high end natural ingredient products. Then I saw Plaine pop up in a few reviews and thought I'd give it a try. This stuff is awesome! It comes with an all natural ingredient list and actually is very similar to the Rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner from aveda I used to love except the scent is SO much lighter! It doesn't give my husband any problems and I finally get a little bit of nice light scent to enjoy that is not overpowering. And, I read Plaine also makes a totally unscented version should I want to switch. It smelled and felt great in the shower and the conditioner, while not as heavy as what I have been using, did it's job and I was able to comb out with no tangles. My hair air dried with very little frizz, and soft with a bit of shine. And best of all, no plastic going into the ocean, ground, our food supply or anywhere else. It's a good sized shiny pretty silver bottle (more volume that I used to get with Aveda) and when it's empty, I can order a refill from the company and they will send me a paid label to return the empty bottles for re-use. This is a win-win-win product for me in that it gives me good hair results, it doesn't cause my husband scent related issues and it will allow me to stop contributing so much plastic to landfills and oceans. I realize price will be a legimate barrier for many, but I will cut corners elsewhere to support this company and great product. Since it takes three or four weeks to really know how a product treats your hair long term, I will try to update again when I have used for a month or so. But based on first use results, I love this stuff!

Love this brand!
As I slowly have been transitioning to more of a holistic life style, finding the right products is not always the easiest thing to do especially hair care. I’ve tried many brands But this one so far has been the best for me and my kids who have texture curly dry hair. I unfortunately have extremely dry hair and I think my remedies of using apple cider vinegar made it worse. This has helped replenish our hair and also makes it almost tangle free for my kids curly hair. I sometimes like to use the conditioner as a deep conditioner and leave in for the kids, which makes her curls really nice and moisturized. Although this product is pricey, I do feel It’s very well worth it.

Ugh
I really hate leaving bad reviews of "non toxic" products but this shampoo and conditioner gave me the worst acne. It took me awhile to figure it out because I'm generally not sensitive to products like that. I thought maybe it was hormone related but unfortunately it was the shampoo/conditioner. Really put a damper on my self estimate for some time so I'm thankful to have figured it out. I'll be switching back to Giovanni products (not perfect but much safer than most)
