*Something Clever about a Cool Little Lamp Here*
From memory, this little lamp is only about 8 or 9 inches tall. The top sort of "cap" part of the lamp is about 4 inches across. What this means is that this lamp takes up very little real estate. Do you have a cluttered desk but still wish you had room for a small lamp? Well, in all likelihood, you have room for this little guy.The base of the lamp is not metal. It's plastic that looks somewhat metallic. I don't mind this. You power the lamp on and off by touching the top of the lamp. One reviewer mentions that their copper colored lamp only turns on and off by pressing the very top of the dome on the top of the lamp. They seemed to say that they owned a few different colors of this lamp and that the copper colored one was the only one with this "quirk". I have the silver model and it also functions this way. Although it doesn't seem to show it in the picture provided on the lamp's product page, my lamp has an embossed area at the uppermost top of the dome with a power symbol (a circle with a little vertical line) on it. My lamp only powers on and off by touching that raised area...which, for the curious, is about the size of a dime.As for the lamp's function, don't expect one lamp to light up a room the way a floor lamp might. I initially had this on a table in pretty much the middle of a room that's roughly 11' x 14' or so. All I needed this lamp to do was cast enough light for me to get from my bed to a light switch that is totally across the room without stubbing my toe or otherwise hurting myself. I wanted something close to my bed that I could turn on first thing when I woke up and that I could turn off as I was climbing into bed for the night. It does exactly what I need it to do.I wasn't looking for something to use for reading so this doesn't effect me, but I wouldn't recommend this lamp if you're looking for something to use as a bed side reading light. The light emitted by the lamp is very bright in a 1 foot radius around the base of the lamp. Outside of this "circle of light", it gets dark very quickly. I imagine that reading with it while sitting in bed would be about as effective as reading with a flashlight sitting 3 feet away and pointing in the wrong direction. I could see using this lamp to read while sitting at a desk, though, as you could put your reading material in the "circle of light" and be able to see just fine. So...in the end whether or not to buy this for reading is really more a question of how exactly you want to use it.While looking for a lamp, all I really cared about was not needing to plug it into a wall outlet. This way I could put it anywhere (even a table in the middle of the room) without worrying about tripping over a power cord. The touch functionality was not really what I was shopping for, but I'm very pleased with the feature. It's much easier to reach out and touch the top of this lamp than it would be to fumble around trying to find a power switch. The lamp takes 3 AA Batteries which are not included. The batteries supposedly last for 36 hours. They should last me a very long time considering the lamp will only be on for about 5 minutes at a time two or three times a day.I know it says so in the item's name, but it bears mentioning that the bulbs in this lamp are LED's. You probably own several flashlights that use these as the source of light. The quality of the light the lamp casts is very..."cold". This lamp doesn't shine the warm, yellowish or amber sort of light you can get from an incandescent bulb. Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining...it was just something I noticed and thought I should mention it.Let me end this by saying that I really like my lamp. Very soon I'll be buying one to put on my dresser.

Total piece of junk.
I should have sent this lamp back right away, but I thought it might work and was just being a little stubborn. Sadly, I’ve missed the return window by 3 days. I purchased one that looked like this and I loved it. This one would barely accept the batteries because the coins were so cheap and were bending rather than springing. It does not light at all. It’s a total piece of junk.

Decent lamp
Nice light. Brighter than expected. Described that it's a one hand tap, but tapping seems to only work if holding the base with the other hand. Light does not fade low or bright as described but it's an ok light for the price. Will be great for power outages.

TRULY AWESOME BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE BATTERIES
For battery-operated small lamps, these are truly awesome. They look like they cost much more than the price we paid, actually looking like real dark deep bronze metal, rather than what they are. I'm really pleased. I'm pleased enough that we're ordering a second set, even though I haven't figured out where to put it yet. You can't go wrong with these battery-operated lamps. We recommend them highly. (They are not overly bright. I wouldn't try reading with them in a dark room, though). They only light up the immediate area. That said, at the time of this review (August 19, 2023) the description very clearly states that the box includes batteries. It does not. For the pair, we needed SIX C-sized batteries, so that adds another six to eight dollrs for decent batteries. It's misleading, but not a disaster in the scheme of things.

LOVE this little lamp
I absolutely love this lamp! It is so easy to turn on and off, and you can also dim it or make it a little brighter. It is the perfect nighttime light for your bathroom, or for whatever, where you don’t want full lighting. I keep it on top of the toilet tank so that I don’t have to turn on the blinding overhead light when I need to use the restroom in the middle of the night. I also use it for nighttime showers when I just want to have a peaceful candlelight effect. The fact that it’s battery operated, makes it so versatile! You literally just pick it up and put it where you want it to be! No plugs, just this beautiful elegant little lamp that turns on and off with one easy touch to the top of the lamp.

AA version is GREAT; C version is LESS PRACTICAL
We purchased this lamp 4-5 years ago (2014) when they were still using AA batteries, and have loved it. It is especially lovely to have during power outages. However, we wanted to buy a second one today (in 2019) and noticed that lamp now uses C batteries instead of AA. If you already have a battery charger for C batteries, go ahead and buy this lamp. If you're like us and only have a charger for AAA/AAs, I'd recommend trying to find an older version of this lamp that still uses AA batteries, or go with some other model. One exception to my recommendation to finding a AA version would be if you plan to keep it on for long periods of time. In that case, you might prefer the C version because C batteries have about 3 times the capacity of AAs. So it should last longer than the AA version. We generally use ours only a few minutes a day and only need to change the AA batteries about twice a year.Interestingly, the description says the current model also can be plugged in. Maybe someone will find that useful. But there are so many better lamp options available if you have access to a power outlet. We like to use ours outside on the deck and in other areas where corded appliances are impractical. This is also a great lamp to have during a power outage because it provides better light than candles and is so much safer.
