Pros:-Good set, decent value. The green/white board reduces eyestrain and helps the black pieces to stand out.-The pieces are well made and are a good tournament size.-Heavy vinyl board rolls out easily and stays flat-Comes with an extra QueenCons:-The mat is a heavy vinyl which had a bit of an odd plastic smell that went away quickly once it was done off gassing.-The pieces are listed at 90% full of plastic which i do not doubt but would like it if they were heavier. I would opt for a heavier set next time.

I am just getting back into chess after a life-time of doing other things. I wanted a chess set that was not too small, had some weight to it and pieces that were not too small. This set met all these considerations. The board is somewhat like rubber-plastic and seems very durable. The set comes with an extra Queen for each side. I wish it had included a small bag for the pieces, however I picked up one locally. The chess pieces are plastic, but they are filled and have felt on the bottom side. I certainly would purchase this set again.

The pieces are made of nice plastic which you would find in your typical mat chess board and the mat itself has a weird vintage color to it but nothing serious, it's premium quality just like the mats in tournaments. Would have been nice to include a tube to pack the pieces and the map away when not playing, you can still use their plastic bags they've included to keep the pieces rn but the mat will have to be just put somewhere around your house.

Everything is great about this set if you don't care about piece weight. The description leads you to believe the pieces are somehow weighted, but they're actually fairly light. The bases are sturdy, so they wont be blown over by a strong wind or anything, but there is another set here on amazon for 30 bucks which has VERY nicely weighted versions of these pieces. Get those instead, the quality to value ratio is too good to pass up.

This is a great board and pieces for the price. I will be purchasing more for friends.
