Q: Will this product stay in place on a ceiling vent?

Yes! I have a vent located right above my recliner. Once I placed the deflector on the vent, it perfectly deflected the air. I am so happy with this product. It took less than 30 seconds to adjust it and place it on the vent!

Q: How can I be assured this vent cover won't melt from heat? The description says nothing about heat safe plastic and some people's are melting. thanks

The issue people are having is they're attaching it to wall heater vents which has the heating core right at the vent. The people answering that they haven't had a problem probably have central air which will not produce the high temperatures to melt it. If anyone has the latter, you're ok. This answer is nearly three years too late but I am leaving it for future shoppers so they aren't misled.

Q: Would this work on a standard air conditioner, such as the ones you'd put in a window or wall?

Yes that is what I am using this deflector for on my wall AC unit. I simply replaced the magnets with strong Velcro strips. Attached one side of the velcro to the sides of the deflector and other strip of the Velcro to my AC unit on both sides of the vent. Works great and can be mounted this way with just about any type of deflector.
