Q: How many do I need to make a mold box that is 5" x 5"?

Think of the mold as a three dimensional box. You need three measurements. Length x width x height. 5” by 5” by ?? How tall is the box? How thick are the walls of the box? For my project, I needed more. I would calculate your needs and add one extra. You can always have extra mold, but if you do not have enough, it’s hard to add more mold later.

Q: Is this good for making mold to cast animals in concrete? Does it require a mother mold? If so, what type is best? What size mold will this make?

No this is good for CASTING pulls. you wanna use moldstar 30 to make a mold of your object...than once you pull the object from the mold you can use this to make rubber casts...if you want something more hard i would suggest Resin.
