Part of Hand-me-down Laundry recipe
I have used this product for years to make homemade laundry detergentPros:- Cheap (compared to buying store bought laundry detergent)- Stain removerCons:- Old fashionMy mother gave me a recipe years ago for making my own laundry detergent. It works great and I continue to use it to this day. FELS-NAPTHA is one of the three ingredients and since the stores I usually go to to get it no longer carry it. I have to thank Amazon for providing the vehicle for its continued use in my household. The bar is great for removing stains either in the detergent or manually against a nasty stain.I have used it for years and will continue to as long as I can get my hands on it. Great product !!!

AMAZING for removing stains!!
This soap is AMAZING! It's so affordable, yet it is the absolute best stain remover that I've ever found. I use it to make homemade laundry detergent (in combination with Borax and Washing Soda) and the detergent works wonderful. But the best part about this soap is its ability to remove washed in stains. I have a 5 month old baby, and I occasionally forget to rinse out an outfit that was subjected to a blow out. So the outfit comes out of the wash with the stain set in the material. All I have to do is wet the material and rub this bar of soap into the stain, then wash again. There is NO sign of where the stain used to be. I haven't found anything else that can do this. I also grate a bar of this soap and put a small scoop in my extra dirty loads of laundry, mainly for my husband's work clothes. They come out very clean and fresh smelling. I'll always make sure to keep some of this soap on hand - if you've never tried it, you should!

Excellent stain remover and beauty blender cleaner
I’m going to be honest, I originally purchased this to clean my beauty blender (makeup sponge) because NOTHING else worked to remove the brown makeup from the sponge. Someone in a makeup group I’m in recommended this and I was super skeptical, but it 100% worked. I was pretty surprised, because I had tried dawn, hand soap, baby shampoo, ivory bar etc. So after that miracle, I started trying it out on laundry stains and it works amazingly and smells really great. I just get the stain wet and rub the bar on and let it sit overnight. My son is 13 months old and an incredibly messy eater and it’s removed pasta stains, strawberry, turmeric, and lots of dirt. One bar seems to last quite awhile, too!

AMAZING!! Outstanding stain removal - even on permanent hair color/dye!
Tried this while staying at a friend's beach house to see if it would help with a tomato sauce stain on a white top.Amazingly, the stain was totally gone within a minute! I mean there was no sign of where the stain had been.Decided I better get my own, & I'm so glad I did. I ordered it while I was still at the beach so I wouldn't forget. When I got home I had a bunch of laundry that needed washing - stuff from the beach & a few things I hadn't done before leaving. As I was sorting everything into piles I noticed one of my lovely, new, soft, luxuriously thick, (rather expensive) very light sage, bath blanket size towel had 3 small dark reddish marks & realized I must have gotten some of my hair color stuff on the towel (no idea how that had happened as I had moved the towels to the other side of the bathroom to prevent the dye from messing up my beautiful towels) & it had been there for over a week. All the rest of my laundry went on hold as I tried to see if I could get rid of the stains. I thought this would be impossible to get out.* I tried baking soda & vinegar which is my go-to for most difficult stains - no effect.* Next tried 'Oxy-Clean Max Force' no improvement.* Pre-treated with 'Percil Pro 10 Premium Clean' detergent - let sit then ran thru the wash. Stain was unchanged.By now I was pretty sure the stain wasn't going to come out & beautiful new towel. Then I remembered the Fels-Naptha, (it was still in the box it had been shipped in) & decided it was worth a try. What could I lose, other than the stain.I rubbed on the Fels-Naptha & worked it well into the stains & thought seemed a little lighter (perhaps just wishful thinking on my part). I rubbed a little more & the stains were definitely lighter. So I got out my trusty soft toothbrush (I had used it with the other products also) & gently scrubbed. As I did, two of the stains magically disappeared. In the end I had one very tiny spot that just refused to completely disappear, but it's so small, & faded looking, that it's only noticeable if you're looking for it.My only negative comment is the heavy perfumed scent. It was shipped in a box with a couple of ice cube trays. I had to soak the trays in baking soda & water over night & air them out for 3 days.(I keep the bar double bagged in Qt size plastic freezer bags which do help in containing the scent somewhat)I don't understand why manufacturer's need to scent everything, their products should smell fine without it.Clean smells just fine to me - I don't need, or want, perfumed cleaning products.Despite the heavy scent (it hasn't faded even after using it) - I highly recommend this product.

Laundry soap bar
Fels Naptha has been in my grandmothers home, my mothers home and now my home as long as I have been drawing breath. There are a lot of misconceptions about this soap, so let’s set the record straight: YES it’s the soap you use for poison ivy prevention and cure. If you come in contact with the dred PI you get to your laundry room, take off your clothes being ultra careful to not let areas that contacted poison ivy touch skin, wash your hands with Fels Naptha then haul your infected self to the shower. TAKE THE BAR OF FELS! Scrub-a-dub dub, do it all, including your hair. Rinse, repeat. Use a couple of puppy poopie bags to pick up your towel and clothes and wash them HOT in emollient free laundry detergent. Which typically ain’t liquid. If you are unsure, use a knife and chip in some of the Fels. I spike the rinse with white vinegar for good measure. If Fido got into the green too, bathe him in tepid water and Fels Naptha. It works. If you use anything else, and it has ANY emollients, you’ll just spread the poison ivy oil all over Fido, yourself, and everything you touch. Good times. It’s also the best pre-spotter ever made for clothes. So keep a bar or a half bar in each bathroom. Yep, that’s right, a clean hacksaw will turn one awkward laundry bar into two graceful utility bars with a few strokes of elbow grease. And it’s the very best soap to use in skin or hair before using henna. Just rinse with water, then towel dry and work a couple of handfuls of white vinegar into the damp hair. Towel again and get your henna on! Great stuff. Absolutely no idea why my local hardware store stopped carrying it.
