This is magnesium oxide. NatureMade makes a separate product that has magnesium citrate in it. And then there is a third product called magnesium glycinate. My doctor described them as basically having varying levels of potency. Citrate is absorbed the best, but it also comes with the strongest side effects, like diarrhea. Oxide is useful for cramps, but it will also produce side effects like bowel movements and sleepiness (which may or may not be desirable, depending on what you're using it for). Glycinate is useful for cramps if you don't want those other side effects. You should use whichever one is the best fit for your needs.
