Still works Great
I 've used RIT DYE since I was a kid, for about a hundred years. It does work well and the colors hold if used as instructed (being a guy, I don't remember if I have ever completely read the instructions, but it's pretty simple minded). The color may not last as long as the original, but it's feasible to repeat in a reasonable period. And it will dye anything within a 15 foot radius if not performed in a controlled procedure.I find outdoors is a safer area. I start with clearing a 15 radius of anything I cant afford to replace or have cleaned or reDye to its original color, or if it will involve a Vet. I wear clothing of similar or insignificant color. Being a veteran Pro, I've eliminated the goggles, gloves, respirator, knee pads and steel toe boots. What makes it easy and way less messy, I use one of those notorious 'fire bomb' outside deep-fry Turkey Fryers and a 5 gallon plastic bucket to rinse and set the color.I bring about 4 gallons of water almost to a boil, then lower my Pants into the water, let the temp rise while I mix the Dye-Salt solution. I use a wooden hoe handle to mix and lift out the hot/wet pants - into a 5 gallon bucket with the turkey basket in it. This leaves about 3 gallons of water that I then add the solution and mix a bit. While the pants are still pretty hot and excess water dripped off, I carefully lift and lower them into the Dye mix. Then it's a matter of poking and swishing them carefully around to pick up the Dye in every part. About the time your arms give out, they should be done. Turn off the burner, let it simmer.I add a few gallons of warm water to the 5 gallon plastic bucket (remove the turkey basket). Then lift, let them drip off excess before lowering them into the warm clean water. After lightly moving them around to lower the temperature, I use a water hose to add another gallon. Then pour out the water and submerge them in cold tap water. Hang them up to dry. Wash them with other jeans, then into the dryer.works for me....... and no animals were harmed during the process. And a new matching hoe handle bonus.(sorry if any sarcasm may have offended you, but it was directed toward those unfortunately stuck on Easter Egg dyeing)

Worked Great
I have a chambray apron that I absolutely love. It has become faded over the years and is looking worse for wear. I have looked high and low to find a replacement but I just keep coming back to my tried and true apron. I decided that I may be able to get a few more years of service if I could dye over the faded areas. I used the stovetop method and cooked it with the dye, salt and water (as the apron is cotton). After the stove top cooking time, I rinsed the apron until the water ran clean and then placed it in the washing machine with a few old towels. It came out amazing. The color is now a darker denim color, but the color is uniform. It looks great. I have been using it for over a month now and there has been no color transfer. I washed it and it still looks great with no fading or bleeding.

Nice Demin Color
Sorry I don't have a pic. This blue is not the faded blue jean blue you might be after. Remember, you're dying out any shred of white so the feel of aged denim isn't a thing with this. It is a true midtone denim blue but again, keep in mind you won't have any of the white that tends to get woven in the actual textile in a denim weave. So it appears to have a more solid appearance and depth to it, and therefore, also reads a bit darker to the eye. If you're looking to spice up some white items, I say do it. It's a beautiful blue. Also as a side note: if you have a few beige items that need a bit of revamping, this will turn them a blueish gray which let's face it, is way better than the beige crap we wish we had never bought. Just be sure to check your fabric types against the product's claims. I also threw in a white & nude bra and a few pairs of lackluster undies and couldn't be happier with the results. The bra strap (formerly white bra) peeking out from my top will match my jeans perfectly and the look is super cute. I would recommend this Rit dye color for all the aforementioned ideas.

Traditional blue jean dye, not dark.
This is more of a traditional blue jean dye, like the color on the box. It won't work if you have dark jean washes where it is that really dark blue. It did an OK job, it seems to me like you may need two dye boxes (powder) to get the dye to really stay put on the jeans. A lot of the initial dye washes off the jeans so the final result is a bit lighter than you initially think. Be careful with drying in the dryer machine the first time as it may leave dye inside the dryer and could get on other clothes. I recommend you air dry if possible.

Not the best
Not strong enough to dye whole garment. Looks like tye die. I used shorts x1. Didn't dye totally.

old jeans are new looking now
Wow, it makes old faded jeans as dark as when they were bought!I mixed it up in my kitchen sink, forgot to add the salt, let it sit the required time. Used an old wooden kitchen spoon to try to stir, which I don't recommend as the jeans became too heavy for the spoon. So then put on gloves and moved things around with my hand. That worked fine. (Spoon did get discolored and was tossed out.)With the one box I got excellent coloring on a jean jacket and two pair of jeans (size 6p). There was still what appeared to be enough dye/water left that I went and got a couple more pairs of jeans and got decent color on that. Thrilled with all this I then went and got another pair but barely got any color on those. Will definitely do this again when current batch fades as I prefer darker colored jeans.

Waste of money and my time. I'm just horribly embarrassed I was so stupid to try this.
It splotched and bled. It didn't matter how much I used or how long it sat in the washer. This is a total waste of time and money. I ended up having to buy new slip covers. I followed all directions. None worked
