Goldielocks of Affordable Outdoor Speakers
I was looking for a pair of speakers to use outside primarily for music, but also to serve as speakers for my TV outside and originally went with a pair of YAMAHA NS-AW194BLs. Unfortunately they were not the sound I was looking for so I also bought a pair of Polk Atrium 4s and OSD AP525s to compare. Ultimately I found the OSDs to be the right combination of sound and build quality. More detailed review below:Price: At the time of purchase the OSD and Yamahas retailed for the same price of $120 while the Polks were $154, but I was able to get them openbox for $107.Build quality: Build quality is more important than usual since these will be outside and uncovered.3. Yamahas: The Yamahas were by far the lightest, even lighter than the Polks there have a smaller speaker and overall box size. Additionally, this one looked like it would be the least weather resistant which is backed up by its IP33 rating. The speaker connect via a spring clamp which probably offers a bit more protection than exposed speaker posts, but not much. The mounting is fine.2. Polks: The Polks feel solid and are probably the best looking of the speakers. They are also the smallest. They don't provide an IP rating, but from looks alone I would say they are close, but not as good as the OSDs. The speaker posts are exposed. The mounting is fine.1. OSDs: Very solid feeling with a good heft; these seem like they would hold up much better than the Yamahas and probably a bit better than the Polks. These have an IP Rating of 54 which is significantly better than Yamaha's of IP33. Also, they have removal a panel that covers the speaker posts which gives me a lot more confidence with these being outside. The mounting options are very good.Sound: What you are probably most concerned about. I tested all 3 pairs of speakers by connecting them to an Arylic B50 which was connected to my TV through an HDMI cable. I then tested music through the Youtube Music app on the TV.3. Yamaha: these had the clearest highs... almost too high, but the real problem was they just sounded extremely tiny. Like way tinier than 5.25" speakers should sound. Not only was there no bass, but it sounded like you were listening through a tin can.2. Polks: the Polks sounded better overall with more bass and mids, but weren't nearly as clear on the high. In fact, they were not very clear at all with the overall sound being muddy.1. OSDs: I was actually a little disappointed in the OSDs at first, but after tweaking the equalizer I was able to get them to sound much better than either the Yamahas or Polks (don't worry, I played with the equalizer for them too). At first the bass was missing but after tweaking the EQ they showed up and the bass, mids and highs were all clearer than the Polks and the bass and mids were much improved on the Yamahas (the Yamaha highs were clearer, but may have been too bright).Summary:The OSD were the clear winners as the perfect goldielocks of sound (not too bright or too muddy), price (same price as Yamahas and cheaper than Polks), weather resistants (objectively better than the Yamahas and subjectively better than the Polks) and mounting (the OSDs allow the most mounting angles/orientation).The one minor quibble I have with the OSDs is that the black speakers have a white OSD logo that really stands out and detracts from its looks.Note: I also tried some Pyle Active/Passive speakers but those really sounded terrible.

Great quality, very durable and great price for the quality.
Great clarity at even high volumes. These are good quality speakers that have good performance. The volume output is EXTREMELY sensitive! You don’t need to put the volume up too high to have the sound come out at all. You don’t need a lot of power. My amp is far more than enough. I have some other more pro-grade speakers that I can’t get as loud as these at low volume. Great cost for the quality! These don’t ever sound “tinny”, either. Remember 80Hz is Dolby quality for crossover to lower frequencies if you use a subwoofer.

Great sound, really good value.
These sound great-- the 5.5 inch woofer is so much better than a 3.5 one.I had bought the YAMAHA NS-AW194BL speakers for my front porch, and although they were loud and sounded good on the higher pitches, I couldn't hear the bass at all, despite their claims of "Dynamic bass boost". They couldn't fake it with the 3.5 woofer. These speakers aren't as loud as the Yamaha, but they have really good sound on both the treble and bass, plus I saved about $20 getting these instead of the Yamaha. They are definitely loud enough for my purposes, and I don't really need outside speakers that will cause my neighbors to call the cops.

Can Play Party in the USA Wonderfully!
These speakers are perfect for my poolside setup. The sound quality is clear and loud enough to fill the space without distortion, even outdoors. They’ve held up great so far and seem built to handle summer weather without issue.I can vibe to Party in the USA all day long—even if it mildly annoys the neighbors. Great purchase for anyone looking to bring the fun outside!

They are rated at 88db but there easy to push, don't over power them though you may damage them.
What o like about them is the mids and highs I'm pushing them on the Yamaha Rx-v638 and boy do they sing. Now granted the Yamaha is overpowering them but I limit the volume to -10db on master volume. If you looking for bass up top these ain't for you I bought them for surround sound fronts and let my 250w rms subwoofer handle the bass. They sound good paired with a good sub they are temporary but I can understand why someone would be content with going to order 2 more pair if the price is the same but I got my eyes on klipsh for more depth in two channel mode when listening to music they make great surround sound speakers though just no bass to judge by so keep that in mind. Update anyone?? Ok so when they say 10 to 80 watts it's more like 10 to 40 unless you play them above 100- 120hz they don't like low frequency so that 90hz will pass if your playing on a source that does not exceed 40 watts rms. That said they sound great on hometheater system I'm relying on my sub for low frequencies which will change when I find a better center channel you don't need much to push them but if your into rnb/hiphop get a sub, they are crisp I highs and midslows are lack luster unless for movies and TV series. For context, I'm using the Yamaha rx-v638 which I know is to strong for these but music is not the purpose of purchase. I limit my receiver to -15db, and it tops out at +15db I'm about clarity over loudness and I'm more than satisfied with the results. Besides I like having the more power in the reserves let's my know I'm not pushing my receiver to hard. I don't plan on buying a power amp with this receiver cause it only has 2 channel pre-outs. But for a 5.2.2 these speakers are great. The grills are not mentioned to be taken off so don't, my guess is people like to see the woofer move. But let me tell you if it's moving to your liking then they won't last long and again bass and longevity don't walk hand in hand with these guys. So take it easy, huh. Oh and people buy these for outside fun please don't I live in New England and they wouldn't last a year out here in my humble opinion. We get all four seasons to the definition out here, lol. We'll that's my review if they die on me will let you know now that your reading this you have an idea on how they were used and treated with care of course like I treat my dog. Good luck!!!
