Just like the one we had at school. A kid (possibly a young steve-o), messin about, deliberately hammered a tack through his finger and it was confiscated after that. However unless you have a child that has a over active curiosity for pain, this can be a really fun toy. A toddler could try with supervision, as just hammering the wood pieces down anywhere on the board with no pattern can be a satisfying, therapeutic exercise. But the tacks are tiny and very fiddly. I bought the larger one with 100 wooden pieces but it only came with 50 tacks, will definitely need more of those for back up.
