China. Don't let that stop you. As a knife collector for over 50 years, China makes some really good knives for the money. Most 10 dollar china knives are far superior than Case knives costing 10 times as much.

The release is where the blade comes out. Push it to the side with your thumb and begin to close the blade and move your thumb!

Pushing down or pushing to the side? If it won't budge after pushing to the side, seek a replacement. Find a strong handed person and have them try too. Otherwise, it may be defective. Good luck!
